Once a vibrant hub of trade, culture and commerce now embroiled in a bloody civil war, chances are you rarely think about Syria, let alone the languages of Syria. But interestingly, there some of the most diverse in the notoriously uniform Middle East.
Indeed, the country of 17.5 million inhabitants has languages from all corners of East and West, including those with hundreds of millions, if not billions, of speakers worldwide and others, with only a few million located solely in Syria.
