If you are looking for high-street style jewellery, you can head over to Ion Orchard, where there is an ION jewellery street at B2 with many of the Singapore chain store brands like LEE HWA JEWELLERY, SK JEWELLERY, TAKA JEWELLERY or even the international brands like Tiffany & Co, Cartier, BULGARI. Another place in the famous Orchard Road you can head over to see international brands is Ngee Ann City, where you can find brands like DAMIANI, NIESSING, even some high end Singapore brands like Flower Diamond Boutique, IVY Masterpiece, etc.

If you are looking for something Peranakan, you can head down to Foundation Jewellers at Holiday Inn Singapore, Orchard City Centre.

In Singapore we have 2 trade associations that assist the Gems & Jewellery trade of Singapore, The Singapore Jewellers Association and The Diamond Exchange of Singapore . If you have any queries regards to your purchase of jewellery, you can contact the Consumer Association of Singapore .

Sometimes, when buying something expensive and you are not sure of the quality of the gem, you can request from the jeweller to give you a gemologist opinion and hire the help of a gemologist where you can contact Far East Gem Lab.

Singapore is a relatively safe place to buy jewellery as there are many laws that are in place to promote business and trade.

Jewellery Market Itinerary

1. Book a free visit to The Gem Museum – Spend 20 – 30min going through the museum exhibits, visit the lab and school on the 2nd floor and The King’s Bespoke on the 3rd floor. This is to get an idea of what gems are out there and get a basic understanding of gems & jewellery.
2. Visit Little India district and the jewellery shops around the district and maybe have a good Nasi Bryani at one of the local cafes.
3. You can either take an MRT from Little India Station to Chinatown and visit different shops there.
4. After that, you can take an MRT to ION Orchard to visit the jewellery street.
5. You can head down to Ngee Ann City by foot, through the underground walkway, you can visit the food court first to take a break (the Ngee Ann City Foodcourt has a great selection of local and japanese food) before walking around the mall to visit different jewellery shops.
6. You can continue day 2 to visit the rest of orchard road.

Cultural Jewellery Museum Trail

1. Book a free visit to The Gem Museum – Spend 20 – 30min going through the museum exhibits, visit the lab and school on the 2nd floor and The King’s Bespoke on the 3rd floor. This is to get an idea of what gems are out there and get a basic understanding of gems & jewellery.
2. Visit the Indian Heritage Centre nearby, on the top floor, there are some jewellery articles that our founders Mr Tay Thye Sun, Tay Kunming and Loke Hui Ying has done valuation work on.
3. Visit the Malay Heritage Centre at Kampong Glam (about 15min walk) to look at some the Malay Ceremonial Jewellery.
4. Try the local Malay food at Kandahar Street.
5. Head down to Asian Civilisation Museum, there is a dedicated South East Asian Jewellery Section.
6. Currently the Singapore Peranakan Museum is closed.
7. You can book a tour at a private museum called The Intan, please email them in advanced and tell them you would be interested in Peranakan Jewellery.
