VITEEE Exam; Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is a renowned institute in the country, offering Engineering courses that meet global standards. VITEEE Exam

The entrance examination for VIT is usually conducted by this university in online mode in the month of April every year. The application form for the examination is made available one month before the main examination usually in the month of March. The application forms are also released by the institute in online mode and a correction window is also provided in the application form for the candidates who have filled incorrect details. Only registered candidates can book slots for the examination in online mode. The entrance exam is conducted in around 120 cities to fill 5000 seats in Chennai, Vellore, Bhopal and Amaravati campuses. Admission criteria are based primarily on exam scores. Also, if the candidates want to appear for it then they must also fulfill the eligibility criteria.

About VITEEE

The Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is administered to facilitate admission into the undergraduate engineering programs offered by the VIT group of institutes. VITEEE was conducted from 17th to 23rd April 2023 at specified centers in India and abroad. The examination will last for two and a half hours. Candidates can appear for VITEEE only once. All questions will be multiple choice questions and there will be one mark for the correct answer and 0 marks for the wrong answer. There will be a total of 125 questions divided into Mathematics/Biology (40 questions), Physics (35 questions), Chemistry (35 questions), Aptitude (10 questions) and English (5 questions) sections. VITEEE Application Process

The application process for Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is available through both online and offline modes. Once the application form is released by Vellore Institute of Technology, candidates can choose their preferred mode and fill all the required details carefully and accurately. It is important for the candidates to submit the complete application form before the specified deadline. Additionally, candidates will also have to pay the required application fee. Before filling the application form, candidates should be familiar with the eligibility criteria and have a clear understanding of it.

Application stage

Step 1 – New User Registration

  • A valid email address and an active mobile number are mandatory.
  • Enter all the relevant details carefully.
  • An OTP will be sent to your registered Indian mobile number for verification.
  • After OTP verification, a password will be sent to your registered email address.
  • All correspondence will be directed exclusively to the registered email address and mobile number.

Step 2 – Log in for Registered Users

  • Log in with the registered email address and password received from VIT.

Step 3 – Completing the Online Application Form

  • Complete the relevant fields carefully. An application number will be generated after providing the primary details.
  • Refer to this application number in all your future correspondence.

Step 4 – Payment

  • Application fee Rs. Rs 1350 has to be paid through net banking account, credit/debit card or Paytm.
  • For testing centers outside India: Equivalent to USD 90 in INR.
  • Kindly be aware that the application fee is non-refundable

Step 5 – Upload Your Photo and Signature

  • After payment, upload the softcopy of your photo and signature.
  • Make sure that the scanned files are in .jpg format with your photo (3.5 cm width x 4.5 cm height; 10-200 KB size) and signature (3.5 cm width x 1.5 cm height; 10-200 KB size).

Step 6 – Retrieve the Completed Application Form

  • Download and save the filled application form for your reference and future correspondence.
  • Applicants are not required to send the hard copy of the filled application form to VIT.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

  • Applicant must be a resident/non-resident Indian citizen/PIO/OCI.
  • NRI applicants can apply directly under ‘NRI Category’ through NRI Application Form here.
  • Foreign applicants who have studied/study abroad can apply directly through the International Application Form (available soon).

Age Limit

  • Candidates born on or after July 1, 2002, are eligible to apply for Engineering Admission in 2024. The date of birth as mentioned in the High School/SSC/X Certificate will be considered as the authentic record.
  • Applicants must produce this original certificate as proof of their age at the time of counselling/admission, otherwise their candidature will be disqualified for admission.

Qualifying examination

  • Applicants applying for UG Engineering admission must have either completed or appeared in any one of the following qualifying examinations in 2024:
  • The final examination of 10+2 system of higher secondary examination conducted by the state board; Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi), Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), New Delhi.
  • Intermediate or a two-year Pre-University examination conducted by an accredited Board/University.
  • The High School Certificate Examination of the University of Cambridge or the International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva. (Mathematics & Physics  – HL, Chemistry – SL)
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examinations at Advanced (A) level (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka).
  • Candidates from the regular ‘NIOS’ board are also eligible for undergraduate engineering programs. Applicants must produce Migration cum Transfer Certificate at the time of joining.
  • Applicants who have completed Class 12 (or equivalent) examination from a board outside India or not specified above must submit a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that they have passed the examination that is equivalent to class 12 examination. Grades/CGPA converted into percentage.
  • For Indian citizens, appearing in VITEEE 2024 is mandatory to be eligible for B.Tech. Entry.
  • If VITEEE 2023 gets canceled due to natural calamities, the qualifying criteria can be replaced with higher secondary marks or JEE-24 or valid SAT. In such cases, specific information will be given to the applicants.

Qualifying Examination Performance

  • Applicants applying for Undergraduate Engineering admission in 2024 must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate).
  • Applicants applying for Undergraduate Engineering admission in 2024 must have passed the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate) with minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology for the following categories:
  • Applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe
  • Applicants are from Jammu and Kashmir/Ladakh and North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Certificate proving community/ingenuity should be produced at the time of counselling, otherwise they will not be considered for admission.

Subject Eligibility

PCMB/PCM applicants who have attempted Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and qualifying in VITEEE 2024 are eligible for all B.Tech programmes.

Candidates who have attempted Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Aptitude in VITEEE 2024, as well as those who have attempted Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and Aptitude in VITEEE 2024 are eligible for the following programs only Are eligible for:

  • B.Tech. Biotechnology (VIT, Vellore)
  • B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Bioinformatics – VIT, Vellore)
  • B.Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering (Biomedical Engineering – VIT, Vellore).

Selection criteria

  • Selection is based on the rank obtained through CBT (Computer Based Test) VITEEE 2024.
  • Selected candidates can participate in online counseling based on their ranking. They may offer options for specific campus, program, and range of fees. Allotment will be based on matching of rank obtained and options available.
  • Candidates with rank up to 1 lakh are eligible for counseling at Vellore and Chennai campus.
  • VIT will verify the eligibility of the candidates after completing the tuition fee payment on or before the scheduled date. Candidates are required to present the documents on the day of arrival on campus or when asked for by the Admissions Office. The provisional admission given during counseling will be valid only after the eligibility is fulfilled.
  • In case the eligibility criteria are not applicable, the decision of VIT will be final.
