SGOU Sree Narayanaguru Open University; Srinarayaguru Open University, established by the Government of Kerala in September 2020 through Government Ordinance No. 45 of 2020, is a state university dedicated to providing education and training in a mixed format. SGOU Sree Narayanaguru Open University Campus

The leadership of the university is short to the political boundaries of the state of Kerala. On October 2, 2020, the university received its official dedication from Shri. Pinarayi Vijayan, Honorable Chief Minister of Kerala. It has been recognized under the provisions of Section 2(f) and 22 of the University Grants Commission Act 1956 by following the legal procedures. Furthermore, the Kerala State Legislature unanimously passed the Srinarayaguru Open University Act (Act 1 of 2021) in January 2021.

The administration of the university is outlined in Ordinances and Acts, with the Chancellor acting as its head. The current chancellor is Shri. Arif Mohammed Khan, who is holding the post of Honorable Governor of Kerala. The Honorable Minister of Higher Education serves as the Pro-Chancellor, and Dr. K. T. Jaleel was the first Pro-Chancellor. Dr. Bindu assumed the role of Pro-Chancellor in May 2020-2021.

Dr. P. M. Mubarak Pasha was appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor, assuming office on October 19, 2020. Dr. S.V. Sudhir serves as the first Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. P.N. Dilip holds the post of first registrar. Shri V. Ajay Kumar is the first Finance Officer of the University.

Online Application:

Potential applicants must complete the admissions application process exclusively online. The University offers an online application portal which can be accessed through the official website of the University

Physical Verification – Level 1:

After submitting the online application, applicants have to go through the initial verification process in person. To facilitate this process, applicants must submit the following documents to the Director of the Regional Center or to the designated personnel at the Verification Center on the scheduled date:

  • A printed copy of the online application
  • Both a photocopy and original educational qualification certificate
  • Proof of fee payment (fee receipt)
  • Photocopy and original Aadhar Card or any other valid identity proof

Document submission and verification

  • Transfer Certificate (TC) [Note: Applicants above 60 years of age are exempted from submitting TC for admission].
  • Affidavit/Undertaking (This applies to learners choosing to pursue a dual degree).

Applicants eligible for exemption from tuition fees, especially those belonging to SC/ST/OEC communities, will have to provide caste/income certificate issued by the competent authority. This exemption applies to all documents except the fee receipt mentioned earlier.

The Regional Center Director or designated personnel at the Verification Center will carefully review the submitted documents and subsequently inform about the acceptance or rejection of the application through email and admission portal. If the application is accepted, the admission process will be considered complete and the applicant will receive an enrollment number.

Physical Verification – Level 2

In cases where applications are initially rejected, the final decision regarding admission will be made at the University Headquarters. Applicants will be duly informed of the result through email and admission portal.

Refund policy

Refunds of fees paid by rejected applications will be processed as per the refund policy of the University.
