NASA's Cassini space probe has made many achievements. Cassini not only gave information about Saturn and Jupiter but also important information about their satellites. Recent Cassini data showed that evidence of volcano eruptions on Saturn's moon Titan has been discovered.

According to a research paper by the Planetary Science Institute in the Journal of Geophysics Research, "Cassini sent such data that has given special information from the shapes of the Titan satellite. The islands, halos (rings), and high lowlands that appear on the poles of this satellite are actually pointing towards volcanic activities. Even more special is that this volcano is of recent times and it is still continuing."

Volcanic Craters At Titan's Poles

Charles Wood, the coauthor of this research, stated, "Many volcanic craters at Titan's poles have connections to the lakes there. This shows that there are either volcanic pools or volcanoes to be formed here. Some craters are looking so fresh that it seems that the recent volcano was active or still active.

Shapes Of Rings Being Made There

Wood added, "We showed that even later evidence was found that Titan has internal heat. Due to this, Cryovolcanos are being formed on the surface which is coming to the surface due to the melting of the ice crust. With this, shapes of rings are being made there. Such shapes are made in areas of Earth and Mars where volcanic events have occurred. These shapes are made in polar eels where there are methane lakes. This suggests that methane, nitrogen, and some substances will also be present. These shapes are fresh which means that they are still taking shape."

Benefits Of Informations Collected

This study will shed light on how the Titan was created and how it came to be in its present condition after that. It will also help to understand how gravity, solar storms, and other factors affect planets and their satellites, especially those located far away from the Sun. In this study, volcanic activity has been found in large quantities in terrestrial areas. This suggests that many factors may have been behind them. They will also help scientists to find those factors.

Cassini-Huygens

Cassini-Huygens was sent by NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency together in 1997 to study the planet Saturn, its satellites and its famous ring. It entered Saturn's orbit in the year 2004. This mission was declared ended in the year 2017 when this probe entered Saturn's atmosphere and burned. But by then Cassini had given unprecedented information about Saturn and especially Titan. The latest information is also one of them.
