STEP-BY-STEP LESSON PLAN

Step 1

Review the comparative forms of adjectives. Have students give you some examples. Write them on the board.

Step 2

Divide students into pairs or trios (it can also be done individually, depending on the number of students), and tell them they are going to listen to various extracts of songs that have comparative adjectives.

Step 3

VIDEO.

Tell them they have 3 chances to try to get the right words, they don’t need to get the whole sentence, just the comparative form. ex. closes, faster, etc. Then, play the Video below. Song 1 extract is recorded 3 times in a row. Pause the video. Students write down the answer for song 1. (play more times if necessary).

Step 4

Check what the teams wrote down (you can use the chat feature of the application you’re using with your online students. ex: in-meeting chat in zoom , and ask them to use it to send you the answers. Assign points. (1 for each right answer, if there is more than 1 comparative adjective in the recording)

Step 5

Repeat steps 2, 3, 4 for the next song extracts. The team with more points, in the end, is the winner!

ANSWERS:

Song 01 TheFatRat - MAYDAY (CLOSER)
"Far from the sun /Beyond stars
I hear their song /They're coming CLOSER
Talking without sound /Calling me home"

Song 02 NEFFEX - Life (BETTER)
I want the whole world in the palm of my hand
I got a plan /I'm the man /Now I'm teaching the game a veteran /BETTER than
Anybody else who test me /I'm ready
Lookin' at my hand and it's steady/ I'm trending

Song 03 FASSounds - Until The Stars Aligned ft. Addie Nicole (DARKER)
AnI can see it in your eyes
You've seen the moon and its DARKER side
I can feel the gravity
The forces pull between you and me

Song 04 NEFFEX - Coming for you (CLOSER/ OLDER)
Loved being a loner, always moving CLOSER
Know exactly what I wanted to have
Fear of growing OLDER, chip all on my shoulder
Told myself I'm never looking back

Song 05 RYYZN - Waiting On You (CLEARER)
You come in like a wrecking ball
Crying on me, saying how they make you feel so small
In the rain could it get any CLEARER
I’m the one holding up all your mirrors baby
Hurry up, back to me, why’d you ever move on

Song 06 - ONLAP - Everywhere I Go (FURTHER/ LOUDER)
I finally know why I can't look FURTHER
I finally know why they don't speak LOUDER
There is a secret that won't be mine
They'll never talk until the end of time

Song 07 - NEFFEX - Myself (FASTER)
I got scars, put up my guard
I don't wanna get torn apart
I start to feel my heart
Race FASTER , it's pumping hard
And all I want is to be something
That's why I just keep on running
