A girlboss morning routine (updated)

… by creating a daily morning routine you will be able to maintain the type of lifestyle you are looking to create…

As women we need to have a Morning Routine that will ensure that we are productive throughout the day. What you do in the morning determines the rest of your day and whether or not you will have productive day ahead. Always keep in mind that the amount of work you get to do in a day, rests with you, it’s not about how busy you are but how productive you are and being busy does not necessarily mean you productive.

As a woman your morning routine should consist of the following:

  1. Skip the snooze button

Choose a time to get up and stick to it every day. However, you need to tell yourself that the snooze button is not an option for you. If it happens that you struggle with the snooze button and use your phone as an alarm it’s either you buy a clock or sleep with your phone on the dresser and not next to your bed. Just in case you haven’t realized, going to back to sleep for 10 minutes and suddenly waking up again affects how your brain functions throughout the day and overtime that may result to fatigue.

  • Do your bed first thing when you wake up

When you wake up, the first thing you need to do is your bed before you even go to bath/shower. Doing your bed sets the mood for the rest of your day. It’s a small action but it holds significant value to your productivity. Just imagine coming home to an undone bed, wouldn’t that just ruin your mood? Doing your bed will also help you keep your bedroom clean and tidy.

  • DON’T browse through social media

Avoid browsing through Social Media when you wake up, somehow, that has a negative impact on your mental wellbeing and out of nowhere a whole hour has been spent scrolling through social media. Secondly, you are highly productive in the early hours of the morning, would you like to waste it doing something that does not any significant value to your life? I will predict that the answer to that question is NO, so why are you doing it.

If you are tempted to browse through social media, then turn off any notifications that are linked to your Social Media Accounts and in that way, you will concentrate on doing what is important.

  • Eat a healthy breakfast

Eating healthy in the morning has a lot of benefits for your body and these include:

  • A healthy breakfast decreases hunger and cravings throughout the day. This prevents you from eating unhealthy snacks.
  • Breakfast kick starts your metabolism, helping you burn calories throughout the day.
  • You eat less.
  • By consuming a high-quality breakfast to start your day, you improve your memory and concentration levels, as well as improve your mood and lower stress.

When choosing what to eat for your breakfast, try to eat whole foods that are full of nutrients. These could include eggs, yoghurt, oatmeal and fruits. Try to limit sugary cereals (e.g. coco pops), white bread and other highly processed foods.

Eating a healthy breakfast has various health benefits. If you are serious about your health and want to lose weight, it is important that you make regular breakfast consumptions a regular aspect of your daily routine.

  • On your way to work listen to good music

On your way to work, listen to some feel good jams or songs that just make you want to smile. Research indicates that listening to music improves your mental well-being and physical health and directly influences the outcome of your hormones and cognitive functioning.

Here are some benefits of listening to music:
