Australian Education Minister Jason Clare and Indian Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, are about to ink an agreement that will open the pathway for mutual recognition of qualifications between the two countries.

This one-of-a-kind agreement will solidify the rules for accessing education in either of the nations.

On Tuesday, Australian Education Minister Jason Clare touched down in Delhi, bringing a bevy of higher education luminaries in tow in the hopes of stoking collaboration between Australia and India.

From February 28 through March 3, the Minister will join a student exchange programme, as well as a series of meetings with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to forge a formidable bond between the two countries in the field of education.

“This will be the broadest and most favourable recognition agreement India has signed with another country and will enhance student mobility between both countries,” the statement read.

The statement said, Australia’s University of Wollongong is setting a shining example of collaboration with Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) to build up a pool of skills and expertise to take on the future’s toughest challenges. A campus in GIFT City is on the horizon, and we can’t wait to see what this partnership brings!

The Australian Minister spoke out in a press statement, highlighting the great potential of India’s National Education Policy. He noted that the policy is committed to raising enrolment in higher and vocational education to 50% by 2035, providing an amazing opportunity for Australian education providers to collaborate with India.

This visit offers a standout chance for Australian universities to flaunt their innovative partnerships and ideas, which can be implemented in India. This includes possibilities for joint degrees and campuses, according to the announcement.
