How to remember basic Trigonometric values
Do you ever feel that remembering trigonometric values is difficult?
Yes, students usually get disappointed when they have read those values 5 times or more but still they keep on vanishing from minds.
During the exams, students usually get confused in remembering the value of different angles at same time.
Well…!! Here is an Easy and Different way at your fingertips to remember those values instantly.
Just follow these simple steps give below,
Step 1:
Just take your left hand in front of you, As you can see in the picture given below.
Step 2:
5 fingers denote 5 different angles we use in basic trigonometry,
Label Little finger as 0º
Label Ring finger as 30º
Label Middle finger as 45º
Label Grooming finger as 60º
Label thumb as 90º
Step 3:
Before going to the step 3, some basic rules you have to follow.
1) when you are calculating for ‘sin’ go clockwise
2) When you are calculating for ‘cos’ go Anticlockwise
3) When it comes for ‘Tan’ just divide values of sin and cos
We all know ,
- Cosec is the Reciprocal of sin
- Sec is the reciprocal of cos
- Cot is reciprocal of Tan
Step 4:
So for calculating the value of any basic trigonometric value, Just count the number of fingers of your left or right, take its square root and divide it by 2.
Sin 30º= going clockwise i.e 1 finger
so Sin 30º= √1/2= 1/2
Cos 30º= going anticlockwise i.e 3 finger
So Cos 30º= √3/2= √3/2
Similarly for Tan 30º, Divide value of sin and cos
tan 30º= 1/√3
Where for the Remaining entities which are the reciprocals of Sin, Cos, Tan
will be like,
4) Cot 30º= 1/tan 30º
So Cot 30º= √3
5) Sec 30º= 1/Cos 30º
So Sec 30º=2/√3
6)Cosec 30º= 1/Sin 30º
So cosec 30º= 2
So this is the easiest way to learn and remembering the trigonometric values using your fingers.
