JEE Main and board exams preparation: Teachers, students share tips

PATNA: As the Matriculation (Class 10th) and Intermediate (class 12th) annual board examinations are only a few weeks away, students have started preparations by completely dissociating themselves from social networking sites and other forms of entertainment. Students have chalked out their study plan, diet, exercise schedule and sleeping hours to score good marks.

While the annual examinations for classes X and XII of CBSE Board will commence from February 15, the CISCE’s Class X and Class XII examinations will start from February 27 and February 3, respectively. The Bihar School Examination Board’s Matric exams will start from February 17 and Inter exams February 3. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission to engineering colleges will also be held in January.

Several Class XII students will also appear for engineering, medical and law entrance examinations apart from their broad examinations. They have to strike a balance between their board examinations and competitive examinations.

Abha Chaudhary, a chemistry teacher at Notre Dame Academy, said little stress in students was important as it would drive them to perform well in examinations. “There is hardly any time left for examinations. Students should start revision and take out time to solve sample papers of JEE as well,” she told this newspaper. Students should be restricted from using cellphones for long hours,” Chaudhary added.

Shweta Prasad, a St Joseph’s Convent High School teacher, said students should concentrate on subjects they are weak in. “This is the time to learn and write down lessons as simply learning won’t help,” she said.

Aditya Raj, a Class XII student of Don Bosco Academy, said, “The syllabus is very vast and I am focusing on revision rather than starting new topics. I have sketched out my time-table and equally devoting time to physics, chemistry and mathematics. I am also covering Class XI syllabus as well as most questions in competitive examination comes from Class XI books.”

Srishti from Carmel’s High School has also begun revision for Class XII examinations and law entrance exam. “I’m taking coaching classes and also devoting time for self-study. For history, I have prepared a chart flow and jotted down all the important events as per their era,” she said.

Abhinandan from B D Public School said, “Currently I am focusing on JEE. My preparations for boards have been disrupted as I have to study Class XI chapters too for JEE. I have dissociated myself from social media platforms and television,” he said.

Aditya Kumar, a Class X student of St Michael’s High School, said he has started solving sample papers of CBSE. “I studied eight hours a day without coaching. I’m quite confident of doing well,” he said.
