Open Gym, Visitors’ Shed & Selfie Point
It spread over 100 hectares of land and surrounded by lush greenery, dense vegetation and trees. It also has an open gym for all fitness freak people.
It has a long walk away, jogging trails, nature trails, shallow water bodies, rain shelter, meditation hut, open-air gym, Selfie point, children’s park and visitors’ shed to sit & breath in fresh natural air.
Some Facts about Chandigarh Nagar Van
- The Chandigarh city forest has been developed in Rs 2 crore.
- Nagar Van is spread over a sprawling 100 hectares and being part of the Reserve Forest Area of Chandigarh near Sukhna Lake
- You can spot species, including Sambar, nilgai (blue bull), jungle fowls, jungle cats, porcupine and many more.
- Forest has been richly planted with almost 500 saplings of Palash Tree.
Location & Timings of Chandigarh Nagar Van
The Chandigarh City Forest is located opposite to the Lake Horse Riding Club that is between the Sukhna Lake & Rock garden.
You can visit here any day between 6.30 am to 6 pm.
City Administrator & Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore and MP Kirron Kher inaugurated Nagar Van in Chandigarh On 24th April 2018. The forest has been developed under the Nagar Van Udyan Yojana and now it is open for the public.
The Nagar Van Udyan Yojana is an initiative of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, which aims at creating at least one city forest in each city having a municipal corporation for providing a healthy living environment.
