The Bluff Of The Market Experts

All day we see one or another investment or trading analyst give out calls to spectators of the business TV channels. All they do is recommend stocks and try and predict the overall direction of the Market in future. But have we ever realised how many of the analyst suggestions even come true in the end of the day? They keep coming every single day and just blurt out advice for which they have a simple disclaimer of whether they have a stake in the stock they advised or not. And about they do not hold any responsibility to the advice given if it results in loss to the end user of the advice.

Let us have a look over what are the usual phrases used by the so called experts. The highest used words are there is this percent probability of the market going up or down. Now anyone can predict that the market may go up or down. So even if anyone says the market has a ninety percent probability that the market may go down, and if it goes up, they will say we still considered a one percent chance of market going up.

Then there come experts who give you trading calls almost every day. What we must have noticed is that even they have a similar disclosure. They never take any responsibility of their advice and are not to be held responsible in case the trade goes wrong. But if you ever ask yourself, if the experts are so good at trading, why haven’t they invested their own money and turned themselves into multimillionaires if not billionaires.

Then there are advisors who ask you to buy stocks when the prices are at an all-time high, citing improving fundamentals thereby justifying sky high valuations. Any sane investor who knows about the market will always look at the price he is paying for the investment. But some hidden agendas are always out of the sight of the common people.

Our personal favourite is the “worst is over”. Almost every year we hear this clichéd statement but this worst never seems to end.

The final solution to all this is to depend on only yourself for all the investment we do. We are the only person who knows ourselves better than anyone else. Instead of following these experts blindly, we must focus on educating ourselves and not fall in the herd mentality. Learn as much as you can and one day you will be an expert yourself.
