NRI students often struggle when it comes to career options after 12. Especially when they want to return to India for further study. Unlike students in India, they have limited resources and information.

With the passage of time, the educational system, research capacity, and the number of institutions have expanded, welcoming people from all walks of life to learn and invent. In India, there are about 900 universities and 40,000 colleges. To attract additional students, the Government of India (Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs) has set aside some seats under the NRI Quota for NRI students and foreign nationals.

Here in this blog, we are going to discuss some main entrance examination options for NRI students.

JEE main

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a national-level entrance exam, which is conducted for various admissions in engineering colleges in India. It is originated from two different examinations one is JEE MAIN conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), and the other is JEE Advanced conducted by one of seven zonal IIT’s

The JEE Entrance Exam is considered one of the most difficult entrance exams for getting to top engineering colleges like the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Indian Institute of Information and Technology (IIIT), and many more.

All the Indian and NRI candidates who passed out from 12th with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry or Computer Science with a minimum of 75% can appear for the JEE Main Examination.

SAT

The SAT is a Scholastic Assessment Test, which is created, and possessed by the College Board (non-profit organization) in the United States. The SAT set-up of assessments assists students with exploring their way through high school towards college and profession and offers a scope of special advantages to students.

The SAT has two areas: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (Known as English Section) and Math Section. The EBBW section has two parts – a reading segment and a writing and language segment. The math section has two parts – a no calculator segment and a calculator allowed segment. The SAT also includes an optional essay section.

The main reason to enrol for the SAT test is that the scores are essential for your admission to colleges in the USA, India, and across the globe. Apart from college admissions, SAT scores are also used to offer scholastic scholarships.

And SAT also opens the door for those students who want to pursue B.Tech without. Some reputed colleges in India accept SAT scores for B.Tech and other courses. This gives more options to those students who want to return to India for engineering without JEE main.

NEET

The National Eligibility  cum Entrance Test (Bachelor) (or NEET (UG), formerly All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is a pre-medical entrance test in India for students seeking a medical degree (MBBS). Dental Equivalents (BDS) and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) in government and private institutions in India, as well as for those seeking a basic medical qualification abroad.

NEET-UG has replaced the All India Prior Medical Examination (AIPMT) and many other prior medical examinations conducted by states and various medical schools. NEET-UG is a single entrance test for medical admission in India.

Most private colleges and some government colleges have a 15% reserved quota for NRI students. NRI students are eligible for other categories like 15% AIQ (All India Quota). NRI students have the option to get into medical colleges through this NRI quota even though they have relatively low NEET scores.
