Shiv Shakti Point
- To commemorate the success of the Chandrayaan-3 moon lander, Prime Minister Modi has announced that the Vikram Lander landing site or area will be called “ShivShakti Point”.
- The Prime Minister announced this important and historic designation at the ISRO Telemetry Tracking & Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru. It is also significant that the Prime Minister had announced the name of the Chandrayaan-2 crash site as ‘Tiranga Point’ in 2019.
IIT Bombay and HSBC have entered into an agreement to promote green hydrogen initiatives.
- IIT Bombay has entered into an MoU with HSBC in August 2023 to develop technological advances to make green hydrogen production more specialized, cost-effective and scalable.
- It is significant that this MoU is aimed at establishing green hydrogen as a strategic alternative fuel and building a green, robust hydrogen economy and achieving the goals proposed by the central government in the country.
The Ministry of Defence has entered into an agreement with HSL for acquisition of 5 Naval Support Vessels for the Indian Navy.
- The Union Ministry of Defense has signed a joint contract with Hindustan Shipyards (HSL) in Visakhapatnam in August 2023 to acquire five Fleet Support Ships (FSS) for the Indian Navy’s requirement.
- The deal, worth nearly 19,000 crores, is said to strengthen the country’s navy. It is also significant that the Cabinet Committee on Defense approved the purchase of these ships on August 16.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between India and Japan to enhance cooperation in waste management.
- The Kolkata-based International Association for Waste Air and Water Management (ISWMAW) and Japan’s Kyoto Beyond SDGs Consortium have signed a memorandum of understanding in August 2023 to promote research, education and industry collaboration between the two Asian countries on various environmental issues.
- It is significant that this MoU is focused on sustainable development goals to promote academics, entrepreneurs and exchange of information and research collaboration between the two countries.

Mission of India in Bahrain launches a new mobile app to facilitate consular access.
- The Embassy of India in Bahrain recently held a special conference on August 25 under the guidance of Ambassador Vinod Jacob.
- A mobile application called EoIBh-Connect has been launched at this special conference to facilitate online appointment booking for various consular and visa and specialized other services accessible through the Embassy of India in Manama, Bahrain.
- It is significant that this initiative has been taken with the aim of strengthening the trade and friendship relations between the two countries.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated two advanced diagnostic centers.
- Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on August 25 inaugurated state-of-the-art and advanced diagnostic centers at Jharsuguda and Laikera in Odisha. It is also worth noting that these two centers have been established in association with “Vedanta Corporation”.
- Quality healthcare is a growth indicator of a country. The Chief Minister said that this step has been taken as the first step.
Union Minister Piyush inaugurated a grand exhibition called Navaratan in Jaipur.
- Union Minister for Industries and Commerce Piyush Goyal and French Representative for Economic Attraction and Foreign Trade, French Nationals Abroad Olivier Becht inaugurated a grand exhibition ‘Navaratan’ featuring gems and textile accessories in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan state.
- It is seen as special that this mega exhibition coincides with the meetings of the G20 Investment and Trade Working Group. It is significant that the exhibition aims to highlight the seamless fusion of tradition and modernity in industries in the state of Rajasthan.

Gobardhan was appointed as the new director of IISER Bhopal.
- Prof. Gobardhan Das has been Appointed as the New Director of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Bhopal on 26th August 2023 and it is notable that since the inception of IISER Bhopal in 2008, he is the “Third Director” appointed to the institute.
- It is significant that before this appointment he was Professor and Head of the Center of Excellence for Molecular Medicine at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
Anushka Sen was appointed as Honorary Ambassador of Korea Tourism.
- Anushka Sen has been appointed as the honorary ambassador of South Korea’s tourism industry, according to a statement released in August 2023. Sen recently signed an MoU for this.
- It is also significant that this appointment has been made with the aim of promoting tourism between the two countries namely India and Korea. “My dream is to work as a bridge between Korea and India,” said Sen.
Chennamaneni has been appointed as the Agriculture Adviser to the Telangana State Government.
- Prof. Chennamaneni Ramesh Babu, India’s eminent agronomist and MLA from Vemulawada constituency, has been appointed as the Adviser on Agriculture and Allied Affairs to the Telangana State Government.
- This appointment was made by the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who has taken over and will hold the post for five years with cabinet status. The chief minister said that he is expected to improve the state’s agriculture department through this appointment.
Jayanta was appointed as CEO of ICRA Analytics.
- Jayanta Chatterjee has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of ICRA Analytics Limited(IAL), a subsidiary of ICRA, the company said in a recent announcement.
- Significantly, he has been appointed to this role with the key objective of shaping the corporate development team’s objectives, product roadmaps and business strategies aligned with revenue diversification and business transformation.
Iga Swiatek has been appointed as the Infosys Brand Ambassador.
- A partnership agreement was signed on August 25 to appoint Iga Swiatek, the world No. 1 for women’s tennis, as an Honorary Brand Ambassador for Infosys, the company said in a recent statement.
- According to the company, the appointment was made with the aim of promoting digital innovation and promoting the company’s advertising to people around the world to encourage women in the digital field.
Avnish was appointed as CEO of CaratLane.
- Avnish Anand, co-founder of renowned startup CaratLane, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on August 25, 2023, the company said in a recent announcement.
- He was promoted to the role a week after the departure of Sasedi, who was previously in charge. It is also significant that he has previously served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).

- It is significant that the central government has recently announced that the awards will be presented by President Murmu at a function to be held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on September 27.

- Prime Minister Modi announced on August 26 that India will celebrate August 23 as “National Space Day” every year to mark the recent historic success of Chandrayaan-3.
- It is notable that Prime Minister Modi, who addressed a group of ISRO scientists in Bengaluru on August 26 after concluding the BRICS conference, made this important announcement after congratulating the scientists.
