The best anti-aging treatment : Botox !

Botulinum toxin, more commonly known as Botox, appeared in aesthetic medicine about 15 years ago. This treatment is one of the most popular and widespread treatments in the world. Today we will review the different techniques, the course of a session, the benefits and risks of this technique to which millions of men and women are seduced and who wish to mitigate the effect of age on their face.

The different types of botulinum toxin on the market: BOTOX OR DYSPORT

Botox and dysport have the same effect, that is to say that their goal is to reduce wrinkles and make the skin smoother. They are both drugs whose active ingredient is the botulinum toxin type A. However, they have some differences, the most important of which are the following:

The concentration of toxins in Dysport is lower than in Botox. This parameter means that excellent results are obtained with a smaller quantity of Botox than with Dysport. In terms of dosage, one unit of Botox is equivalent to approximately three units of Dysport.

Dysport generally dilutes better than Botox. Botox remains more concentrated in the injection area. With Dysport, you can tackle larger areas with fewer injections, as the product spreads more and better than Botox.

Dysport allows the effects of the treatment to be observed more quickly. Being less concentrated, it is better diluted and therefore absorbed more quickly. The first results are therefore visible after 24 to 48 hours, whereas with Botox it takes between 3 and 7 days.

In the case of Dysport, a lower concentration of toxin and a more diluted product allow it to be spread more easily. Poor handling affects a larger part of the face with the consequences that this entails: drooping eyelids or eyebrows, temporary paralysis of certain facial muscles, less natural results.

Generally speaking, Dysport is applied to reduce expression lines, its low concentration being ideal for this type of small mark. If, on the other hand, one is looking to eliminate or significantly reduce more pronounced wrinkles, Botox will be more recommended due to its higher concentration and focus, offering convincing results in the case of more pronounced wrinkles.

The procedure of a session

First of all, you must make an appointment with the doctor of the clinic to obtain an appointment. At some clinics, the doctor simply makes the prescriptions at an average cost of 50$ and the nurses make the injections, if this is the case your prescription will be valid for two years. So you can get your injections over that period of time by the nurse. If you get your injections directly from the doctor, no prescription is necessary.

First, your professional will locate the muscles that are responsible for your wrinkles. He or she will then ask you to frown, raise your eyebrows and smile. Botulinum toxin injections are not painful, so no anesthetic cream is needed. Then he will make dots with a white pencil for the entry points where he will inject. Following the treatment, a slight swelling is possible at the injection points but will only last for 30 minutes. The result is not immediately visible, the relaxation of the muscles takes place gradually. The results with botox are expected about 1 week after the treatment and the dysport 2 to 3 days. A follow-up visit 14 days after the treatment will be scheduled to check if you like the result or if there are additions or corrections to be made. The result lasts approximately 4 to 6 months, so it will be necessary to repeat the treatment to maintain the result. 24 hours after the treatment, it is important not to lie down, go to a spa/sauna, wear a helmet or do any excessive sports.

The advantages of this technique

Compared to other types of rejuvenation treatments, such as fillers, facelifts or peels, botox injections offer an accelerated effect, without a high number of inconveniences or contraindications. The price of an injection, which varies according to the area treated, is not overly expensive, for the effects obtained which will be visible quickly. Contrary to other aesthetic treatments, botox injections remain an excellent value for money.

Risks

Be aware that repeated injections weaken the muscles of the face. A maximum of two to three sessions per year are ideal to maintain the effects obtained and avoid complications. If not properly dosed, the toxin can cause drooping eyelids, respiratory problems, swallowing problems or paralysis of the facial muscles with an unsightly freeze.

In conclusion, as soon as you see signs of aging on your skin, you can start this treatment. Some people even use it to symmetrize their faces. You have all the information you need to make your first consultation appointment!
