What is the future of Scrum in Agile?

Tags: scrum agile

Several organizations are adopting the Agile Methodology and out of them, the scrum and scrum XP are most used. When several organizations are already adopting the Scrum framework, what is the future of scrum? Before we move into the details of this subject, let’s understand what Agile and Scrum are.

.

What is Agile?

In simple words, Agile is the ability to move quickly and easily. It is a group of software development methodologies that are based on iterative development. Here, the requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between self-organizing cross-functional teams. It is a project management process which follows a leadership philosophy. It is developed through participation between self-dealing with cross-utilitarian gatherings.

What is Scrum?

Scrum is a subset of Agile. It is one of the frameworks of the Agile methodology which is a standout amongst the most widely utilized and lightweight process, used for agile development. It helps in completing complex project tasks, increases the quality of production and improves results with the ability to respond quickly to changes. It empowers an organization to smoothly alter operations that meet the developing business goals. In short, a scrum procedure is isolated from other AGILE processes by particular thoughts and practices.

Future of Agile

Agile has a bright futureirrespective of the Industry you choose. Over 50% of IT and software projects are currently using Agile and to be more specific – the scrum framework which is the most popular agile methodology. However, it is not only the IT industry, looking at the success of this methodology, other industries to are adopting the Agile framework for better project management. IEEE has already recommended Agile for Engineering projects.

The market is highly volatile, and the requirements are constantly changing. There has been a surge in demand for cutting edge technology and the traditional project management practices cannot really work in this environment. However, this does not indicate that Agile will be replacing the traditional practices of project management as there are some projects that can only be completed using standard project management practices.

Future of Scrum

Scrum is gaining popularity rapidly as several companies that have been using old software have started adopting the Agile method and Scrum framework. It is believed that in the 10 years all organizations will adopt Agile and Scrum Methodology for project management.

According to a recent study, almost 90 percent of IT companies have adopted the Scrum methodology and around 30-40 percent of companies across various sectors have worked towards adopting this framework.

Organizations that use the Scrum framework will see greater customer satisfaction help in reducing the production cost. Also, one of the most beneficial areas of Scrum is enhanced collaboration and communication. A Continuous Flow Scrum promises to improve productivity with experienced Scrum teams. However, a Team Scrum with intervals between Sprints checks the Product Backlog is “ready”. This may be the best way for a company to pilot Scrum, even though it may not be most efficient.

It allows the systematic application of the Scrum process with enough time to refine the operations and regroup between Sprints. It also forces all-at-once type thinking when everything has to happen for a specific Sprint within the time frame of that particular Sprint. However, one has to be extremely focused initially as the benefits in the training may overwhelm the lost productivity. Without the ability to execute a Team Scrum well, it is not possible to effectively implement a more sophisticated process that could help make the task at hand easier.

Waterfall technique after Scrum

The good thing about adopting Scrum is that we have finally turned a corner where people have started thinking waterfall is another alternative and a good approach for software development. As long as people continue believing that, there was always the chance that we could have something like a waterfall again.

At present, there has been an increase in demand for Agile and Scrum certification training as more companies are adopting the Agile and Scrum Methodology. The demand is almost up to 50% while the remaining 50% are opting for PMP which is a traditional method of project management.

If you wish to be a part of a scrum team and take your career to greater heights you can choose from the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or SAFE Scrum Master (SSM) or the Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) training course from Graspskills.
