Delhi University Entrance Cut Off’s Leave Applicants Baffled

Are you on the threshold of school and looking for a suitable College to take admission in? If Delhi University (DU) is your target, be lest assured that the competition is becoming tougher day by day. Only last Monday, the university released its 7th list of cut-off marks and applicants are already apprehensive about their chances of grabbing a seat in the top Delhi University colleges.

While it’s understandable that cut-offs for science subjects or mathematics can reach the 90s, cut-off marks for subjects like History and English in the same range is leaving applicants baffled. Delhi University also released a list of seats still available with the top colleges affiliated to the university.

The cut-off for BA (Hons) in English at Hans Raj College is 93.25%. That for BA (Hons) History is 91.25%. Hans Raj College is offering BCom (Hons) at a cut-off of 97.25% and the same is being offered by Hindu College at a cut-off of 97.5%. Hindu College is offering BA (Hons) in Economics and BSc (Hons) in Statistics, both at a cut-off of 97.75%. While Lady Shriram College is offering BCom (Hons) at 97.50% cut-off, Kamala Nehru College is offering BA (Hons) in Political Science at a cut-off of 94.25%.

While Gargi College has set the cut-off for BSc (Hons) in Physics at 94%, the same for BA (Hons) in English, which is a language and a subject of the Arts stream, has been set at 95.25%. The cut-off for BCom (Hons) is the same as that for English.  Kirori Mal College is following the same tradition by setting the cut-off for BSc (Hons) Physics at 95.33% and that for English at 95.75%. Thankfully, the cut for BA (Hons) in Hindi in Kikore Mal College has not reached the 90s and stands at 87.5%.

If your marks enable you to live your dream of graduating from Delhi University, you would need certain specific documents for admission such as your class 10 and class 12 mark sheets, your birth certificate and 3 passport-size photographs. Those applicants getting enrolled in the special categories like SC/ST/OBC/EWS/CW/KM and sports categories will also be required to produce the relevant documents.

Delhi University’s Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) also released its 5th cut-off list on Monday. NCWEB provides an unconventional, non-formal way of obtaining degrees with the label of Delhi University. Only women living within the National Capital Territory of Delhi are eligible to enrol themselves as students with NCWEB. NCWEB classes and lectures are held only during the weekend.
