How to Read Pediatric ECGs PDF Book Description
The fourth edition of How to Read Pediatric ECGs has many important changes throughout the book. However, the vectorial approach to interpreting ECGs remains the same, and the book is still written for beginners.
Feedback from our students and house staff has helped us figure out how big this change will be. When talking about the vectorial approach, the authors took a slightly different approach by talking about the idea in Chapter 1.
This change is based on what we’ve learned from giving many lectures on how to read an ECG in a child. They used the normal ECG standards Andre Davignon, and his colleagues made to improve the normal ECG values for children.
Most old ECG tracings with thick lines have been changed to new ones with thin lines. Unfortunately, this meant that many books had to be rewritten, including the chapter on the systematic approach.
The chapters on basic measurements, hypertrophy, ventricular conduction disturbances, and arrhythmias have also been updated to include major changes. In addition, the authors have rewritten a large part of cardiac arrhythmias to include ventricular arrhythmias in children with a heart that is structurally and functionally normal.
The chapter on analyzing arrhythmias and AV conduction disturbances has been moved around, and some rhythm strips have been replaced with better examples.
