Nicolas Batum, the UNEXPECTED HERO in 76ers’ success over Miami

Nicolas Batum is more than content to don the Superman cape only once a year for the Philadelphia 76ers in their run to the postseason. His 20 points on 7-12 shooting (6-10 from distance) made him the hero of Philadelphia’s 105-104 victory that clinched the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. Batum predicts his big night was a shooting star, not a constellation.

“I’m not going to score 20 points a game. Don’t expect that from me. It was a game, okay? It was one game. Maybe next game I will only take two or three shots. But I will do something else and try to impact the game in my own way.”

Nicolas Batum pointed to the score on the sheet of paper in front of him and said he didn’t care. His focus is on the final score, making sure the Sixers have more points than the opponent. His ability to do virtually anything the 76ers need has made him incredibly valuable. In Philadelphia, he quickly settled in well, becoming much more than just one of the veterans who arrived from the Los Angeles Clippers in the James Harden trade.
