• exploring computational  or statistical approaches in undergraduate research;

Yale University – MS in Statistics and Data Science

GRE scores are no longer required by Yale but may be submitted.

University of Wisconsin-Madison – MS Data Science

GRE scores are not required for the MS Data Science program at UW-Madison.

Applicants are required to have solid exposure to Programming, Statistics (including R Programming), and Mathematics (Calculus, Linear Algebra, Matrix, and Analytic Geometry).

University of Rochester – MS Data Science

Rochester does not require a GRE score. About 50% of applicants take the test and submit scores but there is only a slight increase in being admitted over those who don’t submit. A strong GRE score can make an applicant with a weaker GPA more attractive for admission. Conversely, a weak GRE score can make an applicant less attractive for consideration.

University of Southern California – MS Applied Data Science

USC does not require GRE for Fall 2023.

This degree is designed for students with a range of backgrounds, but students are expected to have at least a strong math and science background to pursue this degree. Students that do not have much training in computer science will first learn the basics of data science, including data formats, tools, and techniques. They learn how to build data processing programs in Python, and they will learn how to apply the latest analytical tools through hands-on homework and projects. 

Students with a computer science background will be able to jump directly into the more advanced data science courses including data management, machine learning, data mining, and statistics for data science. Once students have completed the introductory and core courses, they are given a choice of electives to allow them to pursue their own interests in data science.

IMPORTANT: USC does not accept Duolingo and TOEFL Essentials test scores; accepts only TOEFL iBT and IELTS.

Fordham University – MS Data Science

Fordham looks for:

• An undergraduate degree in a field emphasizing quantitative skills is expected, such as a degree in computer science, information science, engineering, math, physical science, health science, business, economics, psychology, social science, or urban and city planning.
• Knowledge of discrete math, probability, and statistics, including permutations, combinations, descriptive statistics, and basic probability concepts.
• Basic programming knowledge and familiarity with Python programming are expected.

Brown University – MS Data Science

Brown requires a GRE score. However, you can get an admit even if you have a low GRE score.

Brown University is aware of the following facts –
