However, there are many other slightly non-conventional but unique programs which have high demand in the job market. Engineering courses

Four Years of engineering courses in govt. or private engineering colleges through entrance exams like JEE Mains, JEE or entrance exams held by various individual colleges in India.

The Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) is another very tough to crack exam for engineering aspirants in India and is held in two parts, JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced. The success rate of 1 in 45, speaks of the difficulty in getting through the test. Over 17 to 20 engineering colleges which include the IITs, NITs and other centrally funded technical institutions make use of the JEE test performance to eliminate or select candidates. Once selected students can choose from courses like engineering, architecture, design, technology, and sciences in colleges that recognize JEE score. This entrance exam is a favorite among the Indian crème de la crème and being selected is considered to be the highest achievement of a student.

Aspirants looking for getting admitted to the UG courses at the IITs/ISM Dhanbad through JEE (Advanced) are also required to take the test.

B.Sc. Courses

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or B.S. is one of the most sought after degree programs after class 12. The course can be pursued both as a part-time or full-time program and comprises physics, chemistry, economics, computer and mathematics.

After the completion one can pursue master degree or M.Sc, go for research or enroll in professional industry-oriented courses. In some premier universities and colleges campus placements are organised in the third year where students are hired by MNC’s.

 

B.C.A

BCA or Bachelor of Computer Applications is a 3 year undergraduate program in Computer applications. Known to be an equivalent of B.Tech/B.E in Computer Science, one can pursue the program from a number of universities and institutions in India. The program offers comprehensive academic framework, provides skilled competence in developing software and develops handy skills to solve computer application’s problems. It also enables them to pursue advanced programs in computer application and IT. The course is ideal for students keen to make their careers in computer science and related domains.

B.B.A

B.B.A is also a 3 year undergraduate course in Business Administration. Commercial Pilot training

This is also an undergrad course offering specialization in aviation and extensive experience in national and international pilot training. The course is a perfect launch pad for commercial pilots.

The duration is mostly 12-18 Months and eligibility is 10+2 or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and Physics. A fitness certificate from designated medical practitioner will be necessary while for issue of CPL License, Class I Medical would be necessary. Pilot Training comprises of two parts. Ground Training and Flying Training! Ground Training covers the theory subjects of Air Regulations, Aviation Meteorology, Air Navigation, Aircraft Technical Subjects and RTR(A).

 

Bachelor of Planning

MBBS

AIIMS Entrance Exams – Every aspiring doctor dreams to clear this exam. This is mainly to avoid shelling out lakhs of rupees for a medical degree from a private college situated in a remote area of India. AIIMS is an autonomous body which holds its own pan India entrance test, the results of which are recognised by a great number of medical colleges.

The difficulty of getting selected in the test is easy imagine, given that students from all over the country are striving hard to make to the limited number of seats.

NEET – Held by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE Board), NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is for aspirants willing to get admissions to undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical and Dental courses in the country. Though not as tough as the AIIMs entrance test, NEET is also considered one of most difficult crack entrance tests in India.

BDS

BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) is five -year undergraduate Dentistry course, including four years of study followed by one year of internship. In India about 291 colleges including 39 run by the government and 252 in the private sector offer this program. After M.B.B.S., this is one the top courses in the field of medicine.

Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS) is a 5 years and 6 month degree programme in Ayurvedic science, a branch of alternative medicine. It is a method of natural cure for ailments. The program consists of 4 and 1/2 year academic session and one year internship programme with practical.

This is a specialized course and students of Biology group (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) with minimum 50% marks in the 12th Board examinations can pursue. After completion graduates may either start practicing or go for higher studies and pursue PG courses or go for research.

Job opportunities include starting own clinic or starting a private practice. Private or Government Hospitals also recruit these graduates.

B.H.M.S

Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery is an undergraduate academic degree course dealing with medical knowledge of the homeopathic system. The program duration is of 5½ years which includes an internship. The average BHMS course fee ranges between INR 2 to 3 lacs.

Biology Group (PCB subjects) students with a minimum score of 50% marks can pursue this course. Admission process includes marks scored in 12th board exam and that scored in the state entrance tests.

B.Sc. Nursing

B.Sc. Nursing is a 4 years degree program and follows the syllabus prescribed by the INC (Indian Nursing Council), the body governing the feature of nursing education in our country. Hence while taking admission it is important to ensure that the institute is recognized by the INC. The program includes a comprehensive mix of classroom lectures and hands on sessions.

Many institutes have a merit based admission process where marks scored by students in 10+2 board examination and/or relevant entrance test (national, state or institute-wise) are taken into account.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Bachelor of Physiotherapy is also an undergraduate course the duration of which is four  and a half years. Admission is done through counseling after qualifying relevant entrance examinations.

The program includes compulsory 6 months of clinical internship. The objective is to prevent disease and disability through the science of physical movement.

The course fee varies from 1 to 5 Lacs and graduates are employed in hospitals, health institutes, fitness centres, private clinics, etc. Average annual initial salary ranges between INR 2 and 8 Lacs, depending on the candidate’s proficiency in the subject and appropriate skills.

 

B.U.M.S

Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery or BUMS is a three year undergrad degree program for students after qualifying Higher Secondary Examination in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects and scoring a minimum of 50% marks. The course fee varies from 50,000 to 6.3 Lacs.

Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) in India is the regulation body of Unani education in India and there are 35 medical colleges which offer this programme. The well-known institutions provide admission through the national and state level entrance tests. Students of minimum 17 years of age can appear in NEET 2019 (National Level Exam), KEAM 2019 (state level exam) for admission in BUMS course.

B.A.S.L.P

BASLP is a four years undergrad professional course comprising two main subjects- Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.  Admission in reputed institutes is merit-based where seats are allotted to students on the basis of marks obtained in the board examinations together with the score in state or national level entrance tests or the ones held by the respective institutions.

The program offers training to become audiologists and speech-language pathologists making students capable of preventing, identifying and treating speech, hearing and balance disorders in people.
