Trees Use for Animals-The branches of trees gives shelter to millions of birds. Forests give shelter to many wild animals. The leaves of the trees are food for animals. Many insects also depend on trees for their lives.
Other Importance of Trees-We value trees not only for their usefulness but also for their beauty. They refresh our eyes and mind. The Rishis of the olden days lived in forests. They had their ashrams there. These were the centers of knowledge and learning. Trees help to check pollution.
The need for Planting Trees-In olden days, large areas of India were covered with forests. As the population grew, trees began to be cut down for man’s use. That is how a great part of forest wealth is lost. While the forests are disappearing, the demand for timber and wood is growing. We must, therefore, protect and develop our forests. We are trying to replace this loss. Our Government wants trees to be planted all over the country. ‘Van Mahotsav’ has been started for this purpose. During this week lakhs of saplings are planted throughout the country. Trees are the country’s wealth. We must consider it our sacred duty to protect them. We should plant new trees wherever we can and look after them properly.

Some are the following like timber smuggling on a large scale, fire in forests, clearing forest lands in the name of setting industries, making farmlands and the so-called tribal development, etc. So, the feeling of the trees in the already scarce forests continues unabated even today under one pretext or the other.
Nowadays The new trend that has emerged before us in the name of eco-tourism. This is equally responsible for deforestation. Forests are cut to make way for building forest huts for adventurous and nature-loving tourists. Further, an argument is being put forth for doing so that this sort of tourism will provide employment to the local people, especially the tribals. This is sheer propaganda, as these enterprises end up employing trained staff from urban areas. Illiterate and unskilled tribals just cannot man such jobs.

If we keep on giving back to forests what we have taken from them, then only can we check the shrinking cover of forests.
