The Brave Little Tyrant

The Brave Little Tyrant

Once upon a time, there was a Little Tailor called George. He was only twenty and he worked at his father’s sewing shop. He never liked that life, he wanted to gain power and become some kind of leader but he did not know how. One day the kid of the Monarch called Matvey was walking with his wife in the Capital’s streets when he show that his suit had a hole. He felt really ashamed and he quickly ran to the closest sewing shop. The Little Tailor was extremely lucky because he was in the right place at the right time. When he saw the Tsar’s son, he kneeled to show respect. Matvey ordered him to close the hole quickly, and so he did, while also telling jokes. After that, he liked him as a person and took him to his palace to make him his personal Tailor and comedian. The poor Tailor started hanging out with the most powerful people on earth just like that.

The Tailor was doing his work well and as the time passed, he and Matvey became friends. Although he was paid really well for his job, he wanted even more money and power. He thought that if he became the Tailor/Comedian to the Monarch and not just the heir, he would double his income. So he talked with the current Monarch’s tailor and made him believe they were friends. One day, they got for a walk in the forest and the Little Tailor killed his ”friend” by hitting him savagely to the head using a rock. George told the monarch that the other tailor was attacked by a bear, he believed him and now he was the Monarch’s tailor.

Two years later the King passed away after suffering from tuberculosis, so Matvey became the King. George told him to elevate him in the hierarchy by making him his right hand and Matvey wanted that because of their friendship, but he was afraid because he was not a member of the royal family and he thought that the crowd would be unhappy if that happened. So he made a decision, first, he had to make the people love him and after that, they would talk about his position. So he did, he went to every single town of the empire introducing himself through great public speeches. It took him two months to complete his tour but in the end, most of the empire’s population believed that he was a wise man who would make the empire even stronger.

After winning the crowd over, Matvey agreed to make him a co-emperor. He ruled one fifth of the empire and he was the second most important and powerful man before the Monarch. Everyone now respected and feared him. But his lust for even more power made him a maniac, and he started making moves to secretly put the king out of his throne. He made a secret team with other aristocrats who wanted the king down. His policy in his part of the country was even worse, he killed many citizens just to show his power, thousands died as long as he ruled and everyone who tried to make a move against him was tortured along with his family.

Matvey now was really frustrated with George, he told him that if he continued to be such a maniac he would lose all his offices and he would be a poor tailor again. They became more enemies than friends but George was not afraid of Matvey anymore because his secret team had already planned his assassination. The day of the assassination came and the King got shot in the chest by an unknown person at an unpredictable time, but he was still alive and he gradually got better. He knew that George was behind that assassination attempt and he could not believe that his old friend, the man that went from starving to riches because of him, had tried to kill him.

Matvey ordered the army to catch George dead or alive. George’s soldiers tried to protect him, but they were outnumbered because the aristocrats of his team stopped the cooperation with him after the failed assassination. During the next two months, George faced many killing attempts and his private army was destroyed by the forces of the empire. In the end, George was captured and Matvey was really disappointed and angry with him. Matvey hung him with a rope around his neck in the center of the capital with over a million civilians celebrating his death.
