About CAT :-
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based test held in India. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this examination and use the test for selecting Applicants for their business administration programs. Eligibility Criteria :-
The Applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50%marks or equivalent CGPA [45%in case of the Applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons With Disability(PWD) categories], awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of the Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956,or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Govt of India.

Registration Procedure How To Apply For CAT 2019 :-
The registration window opens on 7th August, 2019 and will close at 5:00 p.m.on 18th September, 2019. The details will be available in the registration guide. At the time of registration, the Applicants have to select any four Test Cities as per their preference from the drop down menu. After the last date of registration, Applicants will be allotted one among the four preferred cities subject to availability. In the rare case that a Applicant is not allotted any of the preferred cities, he/she will be allotted a near by city. The Applicants can download the admit cards from 23rd October, 2019 till 24th November, 2019.
Registration Fees :-
Rs. 950/- : for SC, ST and PwD category Applicants.
Rs. 1900/- : for all other categories of Applicants.
Please note that a Applicant needs to pay registration fees only once, irrespective of the number of institute he/she is applying for. Fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
Admission Procedure CAT 2019 :-
In CAT 2019, Please note that each IIM is independent to mandate their own eligibility criteria (including academic cut-offs and relative weights) and follow different selection Procedurees. Performance in CAT 2019 examination is an important component for consideration in the selection Procedure. IIMs may also use previous academic performance of the Applicants, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short-listing of Applicants at various stages of the selection Procedure. For more information, Applicants must refer to the respective websites of the IIM.
Examination Pattern :-
The test scores a Applicant on the bases of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR). The duration of the test will be 180 minutes. Applicants will be allotted exactly 60 minutes for answering questions in each section and they will not be allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section. CAT 2019 will have three sections :
- Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
- Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
- Section III: Quantitative Ability
For questions other than MCQs, 3 marks are assigned for ‘correct answer’ and no marks for ‘incorrect answer or no attempt. The scoring scheme for Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) is as follows:
- Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks.
- An incorrect answer fetches -1 mark.
- No marks are given or deducted for unanswered questions.

Information related to CAT 2019 results will be tentatively available starting second week of January 2020 on this website. The list of Applicants shortlisted for the next level of selection will be made available on the website of the respective IIMs. Each IIM will send interview letters to the shortlisted candidates directly. The criteria for shortlisting vary across IIMs.
