Barkatullah University formerly known as Bhopal university which is also abbreviated as BU is a public university. Bhopal university name was changed after the great freedom fighter Prof. Barkatullah in 1988. it is the main university which is placed at the capital of Madhya Pradesh state which offers degrees to the non technical colleges around Bhopal.

Barkatullah University was established in 1970 in the name of Bhopal university, but in 1988 its name was changed as Barkatullah University. This university was certified B grade by NAAC nad gets partnership from UGC. Many under graduate, post graduate and Ph.d programs are offered under this university and it was funded by the state government.
