Teen basketball stars go pro: $100k per year

Teenage Basketball players can go pro and make $100,000 a year and up, reports Tom Huddleston Jr. for CNBC.

Young athletes at Overtime Elite‘s Atlanta academy take high school classes while training and competing. The company offers “a base annual salary of at least $100,000 for every student-athlete, with on-court performance bonuses potentially pushing that figure above $1 million.”

Overtime players who won’t be eligible for College athletic scholarships because of their pro status, but Overtime will provide academic scholarships to those who want to attend college.

“The best college basketball player in America will stay in school” for his senior year and make millions of dollars, now that student-athletes can cash in on endorsement deals, writes Eric Boehm on Reason.

University of Kentucky basketball Star Oscar Tshiebwe will not participate in the upcoming National Basketball Association (NBA) draft. He could earn $2 million before going pro, predicts Stadium basketball writer Jeff Goodman.
