How To Clean Cuisinart Coffee Maker

Cleaning your Cuisinart Coffee Maker is a good idea since it will deliver better-tasting drinks each time. Regular cleaning will also increase its durability. However, most users question on how and when to clean their coffee maker. It’s advisable to clean your machine after every use. That way, you will prevent the accumulation of stains and odors.

Turn the Coffee Maker Off

First, ensure to turn the machine off before you start cleaning. Also, remove the plug from the power output. These simple measures are meant to enhance your safety.

Clean reservoir and filter basket

Lift the reservoir cover. Next, remove and dispose of the ground coffee and filter paper. You can wash the filter basket in warm, soapy water and then rinse it thoroughly. Alternatively, you can clean it in the dishwasher. Ensure to dry all components after use.

Don’t pour any water in the machine once you remove the filter basket. You can use a towel or a damp cloth to wipe the area under the filter basket.

Clean the carafe

Next, detach the carafe from the heating plate. Dispose of any remaining coffee. You can wash the carafe and lid in warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly or you can put in the dishwasher. You should place the carafe and lid on the upper rack only. Since coffee contains oils that tend to build up on the carafe, it’s good to wash and wipe it dry after each use.

Never use harsh cleansers or scouring agents on the components of your coffeemaker. Also, never immerse the base unit in water. If you want to clean the base, simply wipe it with a clean, damp cloth or towel and dry before storing. If the glass housing has fingerprints or other stains, you can wash it with a nonabrasive cleaning solution or soap and water.

Clean the resting plate

Wipe the resting plate with a towel or clean, damp cloth. Never clean the resting plate with abrasive cleansers or materials. Don’t use a cloth or towel to dry the interior of the water reservoir since lint may remain.

Decalcification

Decalcification is the removal of calcium deposits that may form over time on the metallic parts of the coffee maker. If you want your coffee maker to retain its top-notch performance, you should decalcify it occasionally. The frequency should be based on how often you use your machine and the hardness of the water you use. Cuisinart Coffeemaker features a flashing clean light that notifies you when you should clean the machine.

Before embarking on the decalcification process, you should first remove the charcoal water filter found on the water filter holder positioned in the water reservoir.

Decalcification process

When you want to decalcify your coffee maker, fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 2/3 water and 1/3 white vinegar. Then place the clean button. Observe the machine keenly. Once the clean light glows, press the On/Off button to turn on the coffeemaker. You will realize that the clean light shines steadily. Your machine is now in clean mode. You should wait for the coffeemaker to finish the cleaning process.

One cycle is sufficient to clean the coffee maker. You will hear the five beeps sounds once the cycle is completed. The machine will also shut off.

Next, turn the coffee maker on to determine if the clean light continues to flash. In case, the light continues to flash, turn the machine off. Then repeat the cleaning process with a fresh mixture of water and vinegar.

Once the clean light stops to flash turn the machine off and run a cycle of cold water through the machine before using it to brew coffee.

What you should know about the clean function

When you press the Clean button, it will cancel all other settings. In case you press this function accidentally, you can press it again to restore the settings of the coffeemaker. You can also press the On/Off button to exit the Clean mode.
