BARBERA D’ASTI: THE ORIGINAL ONE

Barbera d’Asti. Simply Monferrato.

Barbera d’Asti achieved official DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) status in 1970, and was promoted to the more stringent DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) status in 2008. Like Michael Jackson (to whom we have compared Barbera d’Asti DOCG wines before), the region’s wines achieved fame when producers in the area hit their creative stride and began really showing off what the grape could do.

In this video, we explore this wine in more visual depth, so that you can put a place (and some wines) to the name. You won’t see any moonwalking in this video, but hopefully once you watch it, you’ll more fully appreciate why we compared Barbera d’Asti DOCG wines to the King of Pop.
