JT Copper Syrups to enjoy in cocktails, desserts and coffee – made right here in Virginia

Finding really good cocktail, dessert and coffee syrups made practically in our back yard is such a special treat. JT Copper Syrups are made and bottled in Floyd, Virginia. Floyd is the home of The Floyd Country Store which is known as a renowned place to experience authentic Appalachian music. Tourists enjoy visiting this town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains for it’s pottery, art stores and quirky restaurants.

Where does the label design on the front of the bottles of JT Copper come from? According to their website In the early days of J.T. Copper, we were drawn to old feedsack bags, which ultimately, became the inspiration for our labels. We loved the feminine yet rugged look of these old fabrics. While charming, feedsack fabric tells the story of folks in communities like Floyd, who lived through challenging times of war and economic hardship, when money and materials like cloth were hard to come by. Feedsack bags that stored products like grain and flour became essential for making a number of household items including clothing and quilts. From pomegranates and bees, to tiny turmeric roots and chili peppers, each bottle of J.T. Copper syrup is not only delicious, but thoughtfully designed.

Crystal Spring Grocery in Roanoke, Virginia carries a variety of JT Copper Syrups including a variety pack for cocktails and a barista pack for coffee and desserts.

I am enjoying discovering new cocktails to make with these fancy cocktail syrups. One of my new favorites is the “Clover Club Cocktail” made with grenadine. True grenadine is made with pomegrante juice and JT Copper honors that tradition with their fabulous grenadine syrup. The Clover Club cocktail is made with gin, grenadine (or raspberry syrup) lemon juice and an egg white.

Clover Club Cocktail

Makes 1 cocktail

3 ounces gin

3/4 ounce grenadine syrup

1 ounce fresh lemon juice

1 egg white

Raspberries for garnish

Place the gin, grenadine, lemon juice and egg white in cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously without ice.

Add ice to the cocktail shaker. Shake again vigorously.

Strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with fresh raspberries.

If you are concerned about consuming raw egg whites, pasteurized egg whites are available in the grocery store.
