The SodaStream Play is a lightweight home carbonation machine that makes it easy for you to make your own sparkling water and soda. It uses a plunger to carbonate drinks and you can press it multiple times to customize the amount of fizz in your drinks.
The SodaStream Play features a unique blocky shape and comes in bright red, black, and white. It is also the only SodaStream machine made out of 100% plastic, making it an excellent choice for traveling.

SodaStream has definitely refined their technique with the SodaStream Play, which is not only the lightest SodaStream model available but also one of the most effective. It features a slide and snap lock mechanism that allow you to slide the bottles into place easily. A large button controls the carbonation and you can pump it multiple times to customize the amount of carbonation in every bottle.
Its blocky design also means that the SodaStream can hold either the standard 60L carbonator or a 130L carbonator, making this model ideal for heavy soda drinkers. You can also use both 1L and 0.5L BPA-free plastic bottles.
Unfortunately, the snapping lock mechanism on the SodaStream Play isn’t as good as it is on other SodaStream models, giving this machine a limited lifetime. Some customers have even reported leaks within the first few times they use it.
The other (much less dramatic) drawback of the SodaStream Play is that it doesn’t feature the LED indicators higher end SodaStream models use to track carbonation. This means you’ll have to measure carbonation based on how many bubbles you actually see, making it harder to customize drinks to your specific tastes.

If you’re looking for a Soda Maker you can take on the road with you and/or you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a soda maker the SodaStream Play is an excellent option. It’s also a great choice if you want a larger carbonator so you don’t have to get expensive refills as often.
On the other hand, if your main concern is getting a home soda maker that will last a long time, you may want to consider investing in one of the more expensive SodaStream machines.
