Mali Grad Brewery

Today in our Slovene Microbrewery Tour, we will have a look at the Mali Grad Brewery and their Snake Women labelled beer. Located in the town of Kamnik they brew with passion some interesting local beers.

We start with the Black Magic Woman, an Indian Black Ale. This is a refreshing drink with allies at first a characteristic roasted coffee stout taste which evolves quickly into a fruity-hoppy bitter to finish on a malt note. The brew as a nice black body crowned with a thick beige foam. It is a very enjoyable and easy drink to enjoy both on a warm summer night or on chilled February evening.

We give it a 4/5 beard score:

The bearded warrior will not apologize for the amount of foam in the glass

We then moved to one of their other brew: Your Bitter Ex. With a promising label and advertised as a strong bitterness, we expected to enjoy a hoppy awakening tongue twister.  However, it fails to deliver with only halftone bitterness. Our Bitter Ex is a decent drink, it comes into the glass cloudy with a nice white foam and as a fruity and bready taste with only a little hint of hoppy bitter.

For the failed promise we give the beer a 2/5 beard score:

The Mali Grad Brewery has a large selection of different beers and if we have the occasion to cross its path again we will be happy to share our thought on it again. In the meantime, you can find them on Facebook.
