Keurig K550 vs K575 — do you know the difference between these nearly identical models?
Unfortunately, most other sites don’t!
Repeatedly I read comments to the effect of “buy the K575 because it’s supposedly newer and therefore better.”
Seriously?
That doesn’t work for us.
We’ve read the manuals (spoiler alert: the K550 and K575 share a manual) and browsed the for-sale listings to identify the two differences between these models.

Keurig K550 vs K575: The Differences
Both the Keurig K550 and K575 are the exact same machine. The difference is with the accessories.
- K550 comes with reusable My K-Cup pod assembly ($17.95)
- K550 comes with K-Carafe pitcher ($25.02 for thermal)
Surprisingly, the higher-number K575 is the inferior model!
The prices in the table above update in real time, but generally the K550 is more expensive because it includes these additional accessories.
Is the K550 or K575 Right for You?
The K500 series represents the best Keurig has to offer (excluding the Keurig Vue series, which has received mixed reviews because there aren’t as many compatible K-Vue or K-Mug pods). It has a leg up on the K200, K300 and K400 brewers in these areas:
- 80 oz water reservoir is the largest on a Keurig K-series brewer
- Hot Water on Demand feature unique to the K500 series
If those features are important to you, don’t skimp and go with the best Keurig has to offer: the K500 models.
Then the question becomes this: Which K500 brewer is right for you?
This boils down to two factors.
1. How much does each cost?
The thermal carafe and My K-Cup combine to cost $45, give or take. If you can find the K550 for within $45 of the K575, then you can sleep well knowing you got a solid deal.
2. Would you use the My K-Cup pod assembly?
The reusable My K-Cup pod is great for four types of coffee drinkers:
- Those who prefer whole bean coffee and want to grind before each brew
- Those whose favorite coffee isn’t available in compatible Keurig 2.0 pods
- Those looking to keep costs down
- Those looking to lessen their impact on the environment (K-cups aren’t exactly environmentally friendly)
You may not fall into one of those groups.
(Hey, if you don’t really care about doing your part when it comes to the environment, that’s between you and whoever picks up your garbage. I swear that isn’t supposed to sound sarcastic and preachy. I’m a frequent consumer of bottled water, so who am I to judge?)
If you’re perfectly content purchasing K-cup or K-carafe pods for daily, twice-daily or hourly (who are we kidding!) use, then you may not want to spring for the possibly more expensive Keurig K550 with the My K-Cup pod included.
