THE BLACK FRIAR REOPENS OUTDOOR WINTER TAVERN, WITH A NEW CHRISTMAS MENU

Historic Salford pub, The Black Friar, has transformed its award-winning garden into a wondrous medieval Winter Tavern with all new Winter Cabins – and it launches next week.

From 9th November, guests can stave away the chill of Manchester nights in the majestic Winter Tavern, with fires, frolics and feasting on The Black Friar’s new Christmas menu. From á la carte and festive dining to beautiful cocktails, give loved ones a merry olde english knees up in unforgettable style.

The fully covered outdoor Winter Tavern is the perfect setting to celebrate Christmas and more, with glittering candles, roaring fires, rugs and furs adorning the magical space – a fantasy story comes to life (with a little more boozing and a little less duelling).

The new Christmas menu, available from Monday 20th November, includes seasonal offerings like Cheshire Turkey Ballotine with pancetta stuffing, and options of festive sides such as truffle fries and pork chipolatas. Save room for the delightful festive desserts, such as a tiramisu yule log and a mouthwatering apple crumble.

New to the Black Friar’s festive offering this year are the Winter Cabins, which are beautifully decked out with murals from artist Melissa Hartley. Groups of up to 8 will have the opportunity to reserve these outdoor, heated bespoke winter huts – handmade by Pod Folks and in partnership with Estrella Damm.

Each cabin creates the perfect setting to enjoy drinks and bar snacks. Customers can indulge in The Black Friar’s renowned signature cocktails including the Salford Dock (Salford rum, vanilla liqueur, caramel syrup and double espresso) and the For My Sins (bourbon, honey, cinnamon and lemon).

The best part? Revellers can enjoy up to an hour and a half in these festive cabins, and reservations are entirely free of charge, offering groups a private, pub-like experience. From Saturday 11th November, the cabins can be booked from 12pm each day, with the last slot available at 9pm during the week and at 10pm on the weekends.

The Winter Tavern is so perfectly festive, that even The Big Man himself plans to visit. Father Christmas has caught wind of The Black Friar’s new Winter Tavern and will be making appearances throughout December (dates to be announced) and will be completely free to guests who book a table online at www.theblackfriarsalford.co.uk/bookings

Neil Burke, Owner and Operator of The Black Friar, said: “We are thrilled to unveil our Christmas Menus and  Winter Tavern for the festive period. After months of meticulous planning, we are overjoyed with the result and eagerly anticipate the joyous celebrations we will host over this year’s Christmas season!”

Kai-Ly Enno from Estrella Damm, added: “We are delighted to announce the new Winter Cabins, in collaboration with The Black Friar and Pod Folks. The beautiful cabins will provide the perfect spot for festive revelry and long Christmas nights. Each cabin is bespoke and handmade by the brilliant Pod Folks, designed especially for the enjoyment of The Black Friar’s guests.”

The grade II listed pub dates back over 200 years, and was originally known as the School Inn, but burned down. It was renamed the Black Friar when it was rebuilt in 1886. It was open continuously from then until 2001, when it burned down a second time. The building has since been refurbed to include a huge award-winning beer garden and outdoor tavern, cosy pub and grand glass room.

The Black Friar’s Christmas diary is now open, offering parties of all sizes the opportunity to enjoy long nights and twinkling lights within the Winter Tavern.

The Black Friar is located on Blackfriars Road, just a 10 minute walk from Deansgate. To book a table or reserve a Winter Hut, head over to The Black Friars website at https://www.theblackfriarsalford.co.uk/bookings/.
