List of the Philippines’ Olympic medals

The Philippines have joined only 22 out of the concluded 28 Summer Olympic Games, 26 if it includes Winter. It first joined in the 1924 Paris games in France. The latest was in Brazil in 2016. Our country occasionally sends athletes in the Winter Olympic games, and we had 4 appearances so far.

The modern Olympics first started in 1896 in Athens. It has a total 50 Olympics, including the Winter games.

We never won a single medal in the 1968 up to the 1984 meetups, this was during the reign of former dictator Ferdinand Marcos. We, along with the United States boycotted the 1980 Moscow games. We again had a goal drought in 2000 to 2012, a total of 4 Olympic meetups.

The Philippines only garnered a total of 12 medals in 8 out of a total 22 Summer Olympics appearances (26 including Winter).

Our country should make a radical change in our sports system, starting from the top, meaning – our aging sports officials.
