Ferdinand Marcos, a Yellowtard?


This would surely come off as a surprise to most, that the former dictator was a Liberal Party member, and not only was he just a member, he even served as its officer for many years.

So, Ferdinand Marcos can pass up as a “Yellowtard”, a derogatory term for Liberal Party politicians and its supporters coined by their detractors.

Marcos’ ascension to the political ladder was a fast one, as he was elected as congressman in his first attempt at politics after working as a corporate lawyer.

Liberal Party
– Marcos was elected as an Ilocos Norte representative from 1949 to 1959 under the Liberal Party.
– Became a senator in 1959.
– Chosen as senate president from 1963 to 1965.
– He was the Liberal Party executive vice president and president 1961 to 1964.

Nacionalista Party
– While he was the president, he joined the Nacionalista Party from 1965 to 1978. NP was co-founded by Manuel L. Quezon and Sergio Osmeña.

Kilusang Bagong Lipunan
– Marcos joined with his political allies who formed the KBL in 1978.

He was popularly known as a KBL member, or even its founder. but he never formed any political party throughout his political career.

Ferdinand Marcos was a Yellowtard after all, or he used to be.
