Il Watamu Turtle Watch è un piccolo centro di recupero tartarughe del Kenya.
Un vero e proprio ospedale nel centro della foresta che si adopera instancabilmente e con le poche risorse a disposizione a curare e salvare questi meravigliosi animali, vittime per lo più delle volte, dell’incuria e inciviltà dell’uomo. Proprio così, perché nel 90% dei casi la causa di questi incidenti è lo scarico di rifiuti in acqua, della plastica in particolare, che per sbaglio viene mangiata da questi rettili.

Questo centro quindi non è uno zoo pieno di meravigliose specie marine, piuttosto è un’occasione per ascoltare dai responsabili del posto, come comportarsi in presenza di questi meravigliosi esseri. L’importanza di rispettarne gli spazi e i tempi, il non toccare ad esempio le uova, pena la loro morte, il non ostacolare l’accesso al mare ai nascituri solo perché smaniosi di volerli vedere da vicino. Insomma una lezione di civiltà e rispetto per la natura che tutti noi dovremmo avere, non solo a Watamu Turtle Watch ma in ogni luogo e per qualsiasi manifestazione della natura.

WHEN PEOPLE REPAIR THEIR OWN DAMAGES: Watamu Turtle WATCH

The Watamu Turtle Watch is a small turtle rescue center in Kenya.
A real hospital in the center of the forest that works tirelessly and with the few available resources to treat and save these wonderful animals, mostly victims of   people’s neglect and incivility. That’s right, because in 90% of cases the cause of these accidents is the discharge of a waste water, in particular mixed with plastic, which is accidentally eaten by these reptiles.

This center there isn’t a zoo full of wonderful marine species, rather an opportunity to listen to the representatives of the place on how to behave in the presence of these wonderful animals. The importance of respecting space and time, not touching the eggs which may cause their death, restricting access to the sea to those spectators eager to see them closely. So a lesson in civility and respect for the nature that we all should learn is not only in Watamu Turtle Watch but in every place and for any manifestation of nature.
