Il quarto fiume più grande dell’Africa, lo Zambesi, nasce nel cuore dell’Africa e attraversa ben sei paesi, Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe e Mozambico. Il suo nome significa infatti “grande fiume”, ma nonostante la sua lunghezza è attraversato solo da cinque ponti: a Chinyingi, a Katima Mulilo, alle cascate Vittoria, a Chirundu e a Tete.

Lo spettacolo più bello che si può ammirare lungo il suo tragitto, sono le famose cascate Vittoria, senza dubbio tra le più belle e spettacolari del mondo, tema frequente di documentari naturalistici.
Il fiume nella sua potenza erosiva ha plasmato, nel corso degli anni, il paesaggio circostante, donando un panorama meraviglioso che pullula di fauna: coccodrilli, varani, ippopotami, pellicani, aironi, zebre, giraffe, elefanti, pesci gatto. Alcune specie di pesci sono endemiche come gli squali leuca o anche detti squali Zambesi.

ZAMBEZI, THE GREAT RIVER FROM THE HEART OF AFRICA
The fourth largest river in Africa, the Zambezi, originates in the heart of Africa and runs across six countries, Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
Its name means “great river”, but despite its length it is crossed by only five bridges: Chinyingi, Katima Mulilo, Victoria Falls, Chirundu and Tete.
The most beautiful view that can be seen along the way is the famous Victoria Falls, undoubtedly the most beautiful and spectacular place in the world, frequent theme of nature documentaries.
Over the years its erosive power has shaped the surrounding landscape, giving a amazing panorama teeming with wildlife: crocodiles, monitor lizards, hippos, pelicans, herons, zebras, giraffes, elephants, catfish.
Some species of fish are endemic like sharks leuca also called Zambezi sharks.
