Guess Who's Going Glamping

Twice upon a time, I went camping. Long story short: hated it.

The first Trip was to Dry Tortugas, an island 90 miles off Key West (not in the direction of Cuba). It was so hot, we had to leave our tents and lay our sleeping bags out on the beach. Well, that's romantic, right?

No sir, it isn't. There are bats that swoop down at night so basically you have to keep your head covered while you sleep. And then there aren't showers. Camping is for some people, I guess. And I'd consider myself a pretty outdoorsy girl. But I draw the line at camping.

Glamping, on the other hand... is something I've never done, but am about to try. Glamour camping. A home away from home with a heater, electronics and a bathtub? So in. Packed a bag full of shit, including hiking shoes, marshmallows and wine (of course) for a 2-night stay in a yurt on a secluded Santa Barbara mountaintop thanks to Glamping with Pets, an AirBnB type site for dog-friendly stays. Grabbed Shiloh and one of my fave girlfriends (and her cutie pie baby) and took off on a mini road trip from LA for a midweek getaway.

The drive took a little longer than expected, and we made it up the hill right as the sun was setting, but we made it. Stay tuned for pics and travel updates.  This vacation just started and we're already knee-deep into food experiments, a breathtaking sunset, a bottle of red and a movie.
