Snow is what’s Happening in Franklin! And a lot of it!  They’re calling it Snowmageddon and it’s wreaking all kinds of havoc on the roads. We’re getting the Southern effects of Winter Storm Jonas. 

The South does not do snow very well. We’re kind of wimpy about it actually. And I’m really wimpy because I haven’t lived in snow since college. 

I absolutely LOVE waking up and seeing virgin snow outside my window. I love seeing the kids sledding and my little Sassy thinks her coat and snow are pretty great. 

Here’s what’s crummy. It’s my mother’s and my birthday weekend and we have plans to go to one of our favorite Nashville restaurants, Trattoria Il Mulino for a decadent Italian dinner, but…we it looks like we might not be able to get there. I try to be a grown up about my birthday, but staying home and cooking isn’t usually part of the plan. 

And it’s my Mom’s 87th birthday! We will find a way to celebrate in spite of Snowmageddon! Clearly this was never an issue in Southern California.

The question of the weekend is…To Drip water or not to drip water? 

I’m told that I don’t have to drip when it’s not in the teens, but, after having a flood I say…DRIP! Here’s a little tip I learned. You should drip from the cold and hot water or if you have a single knob, then drip Warm water in outer rooms. You should also open your cupboards and allow the warm air to reach the pipes. 

If you have pets…PLEASE, PLEASE bring them inside or find a way to keep them sheltered and warm. I have such strong feelings about this. My pets sleep wherever they want and it breaks my heart to hear about animals that have to suffer in the cold when the family is warm inside. 

It’s probably not a good idea to get me started on pet care. 

If you’re the adventurous type, go out to eat and take in some great food at Nashville’s Restaurant Week. There are a lot of participating restaurants right here in Franklin and I’ve listed them for you here.
