You’re Invited to Historic Groundbreaking in Franklin, TN

What are you doing on Monday afternoon at 4pm? You’re Invited to an Historic Groundbreaking at 231 Public Square in Downtown Franklin.

THIS is the building we all saw blueprints of months ago and it’s really happening! I don’t know about you, but when I saw a rooftop restaurant with outdoor dining and 360 degree views…I was EXCITED!

The official groundbreaking ceremony is set for Monday, June 27th at 4pm and everyone is invited. I love that this project is inclusive for the entire community. I really do love that. I think you know where to go, but just in case, it’s happening in Downtown Franklin right at 231 Public Square.

Here’s what we have to look forward to…

First and foremost 231 will be lovingly transformed by partners,  Brian Schiedemeyer, principal of D9HP and noted historic developer, Bernie Butler. This is a new partnership and a really excellent one at that.

I had the opportunity to chat with Bernie and he told me that he wanted to partner with Brian because he knew he couldn’t do this project by himself.

” It’s the Bernie & Brian Deal because I suck at so much stuff, I knew I needed Brian!”

Brian told me I could quote him. He said it better than I could have. So this is a stepping off point for Bernie and Brian and the City of Franklin are the beneficiaries.

In case you aren’t sure which building is receiving this major, spare-no-cost transformation, it’s the First Tennessee Bank building on the northeast quadrant of the Square. The building will be architecturally appropriate and in historical alignment with the rest of Downtown, but will also include the modern needs of Franklin’s growth.

“Beautiful places, historic places have a different kind of expectation and that’s what Brian and I intend to bring to our city,” said Bernie. Both Brian and Bernie like buildings that are permanent – meant to last and that are reliable and intelligent. It’s a difficult process, but one that is worth all the time and energy.

Scheduled opening is Summer 2017 and when complete, 231 Public Square will feature a rooftop restaurant with outdoor dining and amazing views. Imagine sipping a glass of wine and watching one of our magical sunsets!

There will also be an event space, a first-floor restaurant opening onto the Square, and approximately 30,000 square feet of Class A office space for lease. Streetside seating, large windows, brick and limestone facades that complement the architecture of other buildings on the Square, will harken back to the original structure located on that parcel, which dated to the late 1800s.

A lot of Franklin residents aren’t so happy with all the recent growth (including me), but THIS has received accolades across the board because we need it, but as Bernie told me, “People love it when you’re doing the right thing.” And isn’t that the truth.

So y’all should come out on Monday and be a part of an historic groundbreaking.

“This groundbreaking will be a true celebration for our downtown community,” said Brian.

“The community has put their faith in us, and this event is just one way to thank and involve them in the process.”

I’ll be bringing you updates on the progress. I’m a girl who happens to love hard hats and rebar…I know…you probably wouldn’t have guessed that about me, but it’s true.

See you Monday, June 27 at 4:00pm.
