Vintage Campers Come to Nashville!

Vintage campers will change the way you view camping forever!

Have you ever thought it would be fun to go camping in one of those cool vintage campers from the ’60’s? Nashville, but with today’s amenities? Well now you can in a Shasta Airflyte to be exact.  Nashville and and the surrounding areas have some of the most beautiful camping areas in the USA and this is a great way to get away from it all!

Meet The Flying Ham – the ONLY company renting Shasta Airflyte trailers (affectionately called The Ham because they look like a can of ham) that were made in a very limited edition run – 1,941 to be exact.

Y’all…I’m not a camper but I think I might just love exploring Middle Tennessee is one of these “take a second look” vintage campers. Camping in comfort definitely is for me!

This is really a love story about Ashley, Morgan and their two little boys and who doesn’t smile over a love story? Two years ago, owner Morgan left the corporate grind and 70 hour work weeks so he could stay home and spend time with his two little boys. He didn’t like missing out on being present in his little boys lives. While traveling in Montana they saw a Shasta Airflyte and were so taken with it that they decided to buy themselves one for their 10th wedding anniversary.

I met Morgan and Ashley at The Parthenon.

Everywhere they went, they were stopped and like most small businesses – an idea was born. What if we could buy a few more and rent them out to other folks wanting a similar experience?

The rest is history and in October 2015, The Flying Ham was born. This is a true family business.

Details for Vintage Campers

You’re going to flip when you hear what you get.

You have a choice of a 16 foot Ham which sleeps up to 3 people or the 19 foot Ham which sleeps up to 4.

Now here’s the coolest part. When you order your Ham, Morgan meets you at your location and sets everything up for you! YES…you read that right. You don’t have to do anything except show up. Your Ham comes with everything and it’s all included in one nightly price. There’s absolutely NO hidden fees.

Each Ham comes with air conditioning/heating, shower, bathroom (yes, it’s tiny), cookware, plates, utensils, coffee maker, glasses, linens, pillows, and towels. You just need to bring yourselves, food and beverages and don’t forget the S’mores!

When you’re ready to head home, once again Morgan meets you at the campground and you simply drive away.

How’s that for ease and service?

You can book through The Flying Ham website or through Airbnb.

Other Uses for Vintage Campers

You can also rent the vintage campers for special occasions. Retro is in, so imagine having your own vintage camper for your next event.

Think weddings, birthday parties, a backdrop for photo shoots, an intimate dinner right in your driveway.

Have out of town guests coming but you don’t have a guest room? Now you do.

In addition to the Ham, they also have a 1968 red Camaro that you can rent.

Now if you’re like I am, you might be wondering Where do I go? The Flying Ham has you covered with some of their favorite camping sites in and around Nashville.

This is one of those stories that makes my heart sing and I can’t wait to head out on a camping trip in one of the vintage campers with Mr. Dominic and Sassy!

Where’s your favorite place to camp? I’m new to this so I need all the help I can get.
