Cycling Vietnam

Cycling Vietnam is one the the best way to discover remote part of the country, and to experience the real life. The versatile and the vibrant vistas of Vietnam make for great Vietnam bicycle tours. What is more, there are varied landscapes and terrains in Vietnam to suit your pedaling prowess.

Where to cycle in Vietnam?

The seasoned cyclists can opt for the mountainous terrain in and around Sapa and most notably the Lai Chao and the Fansipan valleys. The scenery around here is spectacular and in your Vietnam bicycle tours around these parts you can also get to mingle with the local Hmong and Dzao people. The riding is tough here, given the steep slopes and the rocky trails but you will have the entire mountainside scenery all to yourself. Cycling in Vietnam and especially in this terrain ranks amongst the best modes of adventure and recreation in Vietnam.

Less technically demanding are the bicycle tours in Vietnam that cover the Dalat region of south centralVietnam. What is more, there’s no compromise on the scenery either. You have herein a lush landscape consisting of fields, forests and forested slopes. You start north of Dalat, ride past the Victory Lake into the mountainous stretches of Langbian peak, the highest mountain in this area. In Vietnam, cycling in these parts will also give you a chance to peep into the still traditional lifestyle of the Montagnards, a hill tribe of Vietnam.

Easy bike tours are available in and around Hanoi, Hoa Lu, Kenh Ga, Tam Coc. These areas are flat with back roads and sealed roads.

When cycling Vietnam?

The best time of the year is probably October through April when the rainy season finishes and the weather is cooler. It is very hot during the day in Summer (May – September) – around 35°C and sometimes up to 40°C at the hottest time of the day. If your tour frame is fixed in Summer, try to get up early and bike in the morning. The hottest time of the day seems to be between 1pm and 3pm so you can find an outdoor cafe and lie on a hammock, take a nap and ride a few more hours in the late afternoon.
