KONG: SKULL ISLAND LOCATION HOLIDAY 14 days

Many of the action scenes in the latest King Kong film, Kong: Skull Island , which opens in Hong Kong cinemas this week, were filmed in and around Vietnam, and Vietnam-based Indochina Explore Tours has announced a 14-day tour that will visit several of the locations. Five of those days will be spent in either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, at either end of the trip, with only the middle portion spent exploring location areas around Ninh Binh and Halong Bay, in the north, and Quang Binh province, in the central coast region.

Itinerary
Day 1 – 3: Hanoi
Fly overnight with Vietnam Airlines to Hanoi. The first few nights of the holiday gives you time to settle into the country. Explore the country’s capital at your leisure.
We’d recommend trying some delicious local cuisine, wandering around the beautiful Hoan Kiem Lake and visiting the Temple of Literature – an old Univeristy dating back to 1070.

Day 4 – 7: Tam Coc
Travel to Ninh Binh, a fantastic base from which to visit the beautiful landscapes featured in Kong: Skull Island. Enjoy a boat trip along the Van Long River; float past caves, mountains, green rice fields, temples and small villages. Visit Kenh Ga floating village and watch life drift by on the houseboats. Take some time to relax poolside at your luxurious resort and sip a cocktail or two as the sun goes down.
Discover the ‘inland Halong Bay’ otherwise known as Tam Coc, characterised by beautiful mountains providing a dramatic backdrop to life on a sleepy, meandering river. Nearby, visit the citadel Hoa Lu, dating back to the 10th and 11th Century and climb up the 200 steps to gain a fabulous view of the surrounding landscape.

Day 8 – 10:  Halong Bay
Embark on a journey through stunning limestone mountains emerging from the sea and experience UNESCO heritage site Halong Bay. Stop off at hidden lagoons, secluded beaches and impressive caves along the way. From the top deck, watch the sunset with a refreshing G&T and enjoy delicious dinner served onboard with fellow travellers.

Day 11: Tu Lan Caves

Day 12 – 15: Ho Chi Minh

After lunch, the afternoon is spent exploring some of the city’s fascinating museums including the old Presidential Palace, the History Museum and the War Remnant Museum, before ending with a visit to the AB Tower, to enjoy city views and free drinks at the chic ‘Chill Bar’.
