Itinerary

6.00 am: your IET Travel guide will come to your hotel with the bikes.

Depart for a bicycle tour of Hoan Kiem Lake (which means “Lake of the Returned Sword”), a tranquil and scenic spot, ringed by weeping willows, where locals come to relax and socialize. The surrounding park is a popular spot to practice the ancient, meditative art of Tai Chi.

Leaving your hotel, you cycle on the empty streets and narrow alleyways of this old and vibrant city. You pass by the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, arriving at the Bach Thao park after about 30 minutes cycling. Bach Thao means “hundreds of plants” and like its name, the park is one of the few green areas in the increasingly industrialized city of Hanoi.

Arriving at the park, you have the opportunity to have a private, informal lesson of tai chi (optional).

Tai chi has long been known as a discipline of health and longevity. In 45 minutes, with our Tai Chi master, you will have the opportunity to discover the principal of this method by learning and practicing this.

Leaving the park, you cycle back to the Old Quarter, making a stop to visit Dong Xuan (Spring Field), a local spice and produce market where you will see many of the city’s chefs picking over the best of what is available and forming their daily menus on the spot.

After the early morning’s activities, have a proper breakfast of pho — Vietnam’s staple dish of noodles and broth with various toppings — on the Street of Pho, where your guide will take you to the best of the street-side stands.
