Chelsea F.C’s Five Biggest Home Games of the 2016 – 2017 Premier League Season

We’re literally days away from the start of the 2016/17 Premier League season, and here at the Amsterdam Hotel in Kensington and Chelsea, we’re looking forward to seeing our hometown heroes taking on the best in the country at nearby Stamford Bridge.

After a disappointing 2015 – 2016 campaign which saw Chelsea barely break into the top ten, the club will be looking for a return to form with new manager Antonio Conte at the helm. Not that it’s going to be easy. This year, the side face some serious competition from both major players and Premier League newcomers alike.

Below, our resident football experts run down five of Chelsea F.C’s five biggest home games of the upcoming season, helping you to ensure that you never miss a moment of the action when you come to stay at our hotel near Stamford Bridge.

vs. West Ham

Saturday, August 15th, 2016 (Kick off: 3pm)

The opening day of the 2016 – 2016 season sees the boys in blue take on London rivals West Ham United in what is sure to be a highly competitive match.

Though the club will certainly have a lot of work ahead of them, their first home game of the season should give some clear indication as to how well captain John Terry and his colleagues will fare under new management.

vs. Liverpool

Saturday, September 17th, 2016 (Kick off: 3pm)

In fairness, Liverpool didn’t fare much better than Chelsea in their campaign last year, finishing up in eighth place.

Yet they still proved a difficult challenge for Chelsea, who failed to pick up a win in both Premier League outings against The Reds.

Their first effort, at home on October 31st, resulted in a 1 -3 defeat, whilst the best they could manage on a visit to Anfield this May was a one-all draw.

If Conte’s men really are serious about having a better season this time round, they’ll need to bring their A Game when they host Liverpool again this September.

vs Leicester City

Saturday, October 15th, 2016 (Kick off: 3pm)

Such is the importance of this one, that the team here at the Amsterdam Hotel near Stamford Bridge are already taking booking enquiries from Leicester City fans.

The reigning Premier League champions are riding a wave of momentum going into the new season, especially with a 2-1 home victory against Chelsea under their belt. Will the former title holders fare better against the current kings of the mountain this time round? You can bet we’ll be glued to the action to find out this coming October.

vs. Manchester United

Saturday, October 22nd, 2016 (Kick off: 3pm)

Just one week after hosting Leicester City, Chelsea face another serious challenge at home in the form of Manchester United.

Of course, as most fans know, this one will be about much more than just a clash of two Premier League giants. It also servers as the first occasion that long-time Chelsea manager José Mourinho heads to Stamford Bridge not in charge of the home team, but instead of their arch-rivals from the north, Manchester United.

The reception received by Mourinho alone should make this one of the most must-watch games of the season, but that’s to take nothing away from what promises to be an exhilarating 90 minutes of football between two of the country’s biggest clubs.

vs. Arsenal

Saturday, February 4th, 2017 (Kick off: 3pm)

London derbies are always big events, and they don’t come much bigger than Chelsea vs. Arsenal.

The two clubs first meet when the Gunners play host at the Emirates Stadium this September, but it won’t be until next February that guests at our Kensington and Chelsea hotel will see the second derby at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues won both of their Premier League contests against Arsenal last season and, come February, will certainly be looking for another victory if they’re to place higher than tenth by the end of the season.
