Chelsea’s Biggest Upcoming Home Games of 2017

It barely feels like five minutes since we at the Amsterdam Hotel near Stamford Bridge were celebrating the success of Chelsea F.C in the 2016 – 2017 season, and yet here we are already, bracing ourselves for a brand new Premier League with plenty of brand new challenges for the boys in blue.

Last year, Chelsea stormed to the top of the table and refused to let any other club get anywhere close, holding off all contenders to be crowned the undisputed kings of English football.

This year, they’ll be looking to do the same thing again, whilst also adding some silverware from Europe’s top club competitions to their already impressive trophy cabinet back at Stamford Bridge.

To do so, they’ll be playing host to some of the biggest clubs in the world over the next couple of months. Here, the Amsterdam Hotel take a look at just a few of those huge games coming this way before the end of 2017.

Chelsea vs. Burnley

Saturday, August 12th, 3PM

On the face of it, this mid-afternoon clash against a Burnley side who languished in the lower echelons of the table last season might not seem like a big deal, but as the first Premier League game of the new season, it will provide a good chance for Antonio Conte’s men to prove whether they can once again dominate the league as they did last season.

Not that Burnley should be taken lightly.

The Clarets have been busy during the transfer window, strengthening their side as they look to prove that they’re in this to do more than just make up the numbers.

As such, you can expect a thrilling game when Chelsea take on Burnley at their first home game of the 2017 season.

Chelsea vs. Arsenal

Sunday, September 17th, 1.30PM

These two London sides have had a long and storied rivalry throughout the decades, none more so than over the past twelve months, when they went head-to-head in both the FA Cup Final and the Community Shield earlier this August.

Here at the Amsterdam Hotel near Stamford Bridge, we watched in agony as our hometown club fell short to their long-time adversaries in the FA Cup Final, a loss which will undoubtedly be fresh in the mind’s of the club’s biggest players as they look to get revenge against The Gunners this September.

Trust us, as London derbies go, they don’t come any bigger than this.

Chelsea vs. Manchester City

Saturday, September 30th, 5.30PM

If past history is anything to go by, this clash between two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs should be a sure-thing for Chelsea.

The Blues got the better of their Northern rivals in three of their last four meetings, including a 5 -1 victory in the last year’s FA Cup.

Pep Guardiola’s men should definitely not be counted out though. Despite a poor form against Chelsea, the club finished third in the last Premier League, and will no doubt be heading to London to do even better this time around.

Chelsea vs. Manchester United

Saturday, November 4th, 3PM

City aren’t the only Manchester side heading south this season.

In early November, Jose Mourinho leads The Red Devils into battle against his former club Chelsea in what is sure to be one of the biggest games of the season.

Football fans visiting our London hotel are always quick to ask us about the next Chelsea vs. Manchester United game, and for good reason: Nothing quite comes close to seeing two of the biggest teams in the world going head-to-head.

This may be the day before Guy Fawkes Night, but you can still expect fireworks when Chelsea legend Jose Mourinho returns ‘home’ to Stamford Bridge this November.

Chelsea vs. Newcastle United

Saturday, December 2nd, 3PM

For Newcastle United, a visit to Chelsea this December is about more than seeking a win, it’s about seeking redemption.

In the 2015 – 2016 season, it was Chelsea who contributed to The Magpies relegation from the Premier League, getting one past them in a 2-1 victory in a crucial game last February.

After a season in the lower leagues, the North East side are back and looking to prove that they belong.

Meanwhile, Chelsea themselves will no doubt be using this game to once again secure their position at the top of the table and defend their throne as the undisputed kings of English football.
