Coming Soon – Chelsea F.C’s Biggest Home Games of the Season

At time of writing, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea were taking this year’s Premier League by storm, standing tall at the top of the table a whole six points above second-placed Liverpool.

Yet whilst we at the Amsterdam Hotel near Stamford Bridge are admittedly excited about the prospect of seeing our hometown heroes reclaim the championship they last won in 2015, even we have to admit that it’s still all very much to play for.

Over the course of the next few months, the boys in blue will venture forth out of London to see off some serious challenges from the likes of last year’s winners Leicester City, northern rivals Liverpool, and fellow Londoners, West Ham United.

Not that they’ll have it any easier back home.

As the Premier League reaches its final few months, Chelsea F.C will need to bring nothing less than their A-game if they’re to send a number of high profile visitors away from Stamford Bridge empty handed.

Below, the resident Blues fans at our Chelsea hotel offer their picks on the club’s biggest upcoming home games of the 2017 season.

Chelsea vs. Hull City

Sunday, January 22nd (4.30pm kick off)

On the face of it, this late January Premier League fixture against last-placed Hull City may not seem like a fixture where the stakes are all that high for Conte’s squad.

Yet it’s precisely Hull’s bottom-rung status that could very well make them plenty dangerous when they take on a home team currently sitting 34 points in front of them in the league table.

With time slowly but surely running out for them, the northerners will be waging an all out war to avoid relegation when they visit Chelsea, meaning this one is going to be a much more competitive affair than many are perhaps anticipating.

Chelsea vs. Arsenal

Saturday, February 4th (12.30pm kick off)

The first of three major London derbies coming to Stamford Bridge this season will see Chelsea looking for some serious revenge following their 3 – 0 defeat away at Arsenal last September.

In that game, the Gunners simply outperformed their London neighbours, captivating the Emirates faithful with a dazzling display of football that left Chelsea reeling.

This time around, the blues are on home turf, and you have to believe they’ll be doing everything they can to avoid a repeat of September’s crushing defeat.

Chelsea vs. Manchester City

Wednesday, April 5th (7.45pm kick off)

The remainder of February and March will be a relatively quiet time for home fans, with Swansea City, Watford, and Crystal Palace visiting over the space of several weeks.

Though if there’s one game the Amsterdam Hotel team are really looking forward to, it’s this early April clash against title contenders, Man City.

Earlier, we referred to Liverpool as Chelsea’s ‘northern rivals,’ but really, it’s the conflict between the Blues of the South East and the Blues of the North West that has had most fans talking in recent years.

Both Chelsea and City are notable for their evenly matched, head-to-head stats, and for the high level of intensity that follows them onto the pitch whenever they collide.

If there’s one game you can’t afford to miss in the upcoming months, it’s definitely this one.

Chelsea vs. Sunderland

Sunday, May 21st (3pm kick off)

For many fans, there’s no more an exciting game than a club’s final one of the season, which is why we couldn’t very well end our list today with anything other than Chelsea’s last-day outing against visitors Sunderland.

Whether this will be a chance for the hometown crowd to celebrate the club’s run away success, or join together in commiserating over what might have been remains to be seen, though if there’s one thing for certain, it’s that the atmosphere inside Stamford Bridge on May 21st is guaranteed to be like nothing else we’ve experienced all season.
