Top Five Restaurants in Earls Court to Enjoy Christmas Lunch

If you’re staying with us at the Amsterdam Hotel in Earls Court this Christmas Day, we can guarantee you that you’ll be waking up on a beautiful Christmas morning in a warm, comfortable bed and looking out of your window at London in all its festive splendour.

We can also guarantee that there’ll be a front-of-house staff member on hand should you need our help throughout the day, and that we’ll do all we can to make your Christmas Day as enjoyable as possible.

There is however, one thing we can’t guarantee; that we’ll cook your Christmas Lunch for you. For that, you’re going to have to head out. Not that you’ll have far to go. One of the best things about staying with us at the Amsterdam Hotel is that you’re surrounded by some of the finest bars, restaurants and eateries, many of which will be serving both traditional and non-traditional festive food on December 25th.

To help you decide where to go, we’ve put together this short guide to the top five restaurants in Earls Court where you can enjoy a delicious Christmas lunch.

Balans

187 Kensington High Street, London W8

Walk from the Hotel Amsterdam along Earls Court Road, and in no time you’ll reach Kensington High Street, home to one of the most delicious and belly-stuffing Christmas dinners you’ll find anywhere in West London.

To start with, the popular Balans restaurant offer a choice of truffled butternut squash soup, Twice Baked Soufflé, Cornish Scallops and Tea Smoked Duck. Our pick of the main course is the traditional turkey, with chestnut and cranberry stuffing, pigs in blankets and bread sauce.

For something a little different, you might want to opt for the Roast Cod, Yorkshire Longhorn Beef or a Nut Roast.

For desert, wrap your lips around a scrumptious Christmas pudding, or try our personal favourite, yummy chocolate tart with milk ice cream.

The Pembroke,

261 Old Brompton Road

A delightfully friendly atmosphere will greet you at this warm and cosy venue on Old Brompton Road, just the same way that it does all year round.

When it comes to enjoying your Christmas dinner, The Pembroke have one of the biggest range of options for all three courses that we’ve seen so far.

Having attended their recent “Christmas Preview Evening” we can heartily recommend the gorgeous warm ham hock salad for starters, followed by Braised Devon lamb with mulled red cabbage for mains and a mouthwatering sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce for dessert.

That’s just a small example though. The restaurant will be serving everything from traditional Christmas lunch to fish, mushroom pies and winter root veggies, with the orange and lemon tart for dessert proving a popular choice among some of the Amsterdam Hotel team.

Masala,

147 Earls Court Road, SW5

Though most of the restaurants we’ve focussed on so far have been serving up traditional Christmas Day food, that may be the last thing you actually want if you’re visiting the Amsterdam Hotel to escape from all the usual Christmas trappings.

If that’s the case, Masala, an Indian restaurant which neighbours our hotel on Earls Court Road, is open for both lunch and dinner on Christmas Day, and serves a mouthwatering array of traditionally cooked Indian food, with take-aways available.

The Hansom Cab,

84-86 Earls Court Road, W8

Throughout the festive period, our neighbours at the Hansom Cab will be keeping you entertained with live music, Christmas parties and plenty of celebrations.

On Christmas Day itself, this beautiful London pub serves up both traditional Christmas lunch along with both game, fish and vegetarian options.

If you’re looking for our recommendations, we suggest trying the twice baked stilton souffle with a tasty pear salad for starters, with the Roast free range Norfolk Turkey Christmas lunch, followed by an incredible spiced apple crumble.

The Troubadour,

Old Brompton Road, SW5 9JA

We’re cheating a little here, as this famous live music venue, bar and restaurant only serves Christmas lunch until December 24th.

Still, so delicious is their usual year-round menu that we couldn’t resist suggesting their festive offering for those looking to book an early Christmas lunch, perhaps for a works’ outing or simply to enjoy a little early Christmas cheer.

Book a table in advance, and you’ll have both fish and vegetarian options to choose from, along with the the traditional roast turkey and Christmas pud.

Personally, we love their Goats Cheese Tart for starters, whilst the white chocolate cheesecake with red berry coulis is a dessert sent from heaven itself.
