Those of you bringing the children along to stay with us this weekend should catch the tube from Earls Court Station over to Sloane Square. From there, head to The Duke of York Square for a family-friendly afternoon of festive fun and games.

Along with a traditional Santa’s grotto, you’ll find horse and carriage rides, carol singers, and a host of warming winter treats to tuck into.

Whilst the children are being entertained, mum and dad can enjoy a luxury shopping experience, with many of the famous high street stores around Duke of York Square, Sloane Street and Pavilion Road all offering seasonal discounts as part of the big Chelsea Christmas Shopping Weekender.

For those taking the young ones along, a variety of activities will be available to keep them entertained, whilst there’s also competitions and giveaways to make your seasonal shopping all the more rewarding.

King’s College Choir: Carols

Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gore SW7 2AP

Friday, December 16th.

Guests staying at our hotel near Chelsea and Kensington will have an abundance of Christmas carol concerts to enjoy this December, though they possibly don’t come much bigger, nor more beautiful, than this.

Led by conductor Stephen Cleobury, the internationally acclaimed King’s College Choir sing a variety of well-known, well-loved carols, all with the Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus providing some rather inspiring backing music.

Natural History Museum Ice Rink

Cromwell Road, South Kensington, SW7 5BD

Daily until January (closed Christmas Day)

Ice skating is such a big part of the traditional London Christmas experience that we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention one of South West London’s best outdoor ice rinks.

Set against the stunning architecture of the Natural History Museum and bathed in a beautiful array of gentle fairy lights, this 1,000 sqm rink looks nothing short of magical, especially  as the winter’s nights draw in, Adding to the enchanting surroundings, you’ll also find a huge Christmas tree in the centre of the rink, a cafe bar with live music on Thursday evenings, and a fairground carousel for children.

Traditional Carol Services

St Luke’s & Christ Church, St Luke’s Crypt, Sydney Street, London SW3 6NH

Sundays throughout December and at other select times

Those looking to celebrate the true meaning of the season whilst staying with us will be well served by making the 15 minute commute from the Amsterdam Hotel to Chelsea’s St. Luke’s and Christ Church.

Here, you’ll find a Christmas Carols service on Sunday 11th and 18th of December. Also, on Tuesday, December 13th, the choirs will be holding a special service on Chelsea Green, with visitors more than welcome to either join in, or simply listen and enjoy stirring renditions of traditional carols.

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra: Classic Carols

Royal Albert Hall, Kensington Gore SW7 2AP

Tuesday, December 20th, 7.30pm

Sticking with the Christmas carol theme, we find the second of two Royal Albert Hall events to be featured on our list today.

A firm favourite among guests at our South West London hotel, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra join forces with the London Philharmonic Orchestra to perform a rousing collection of Christmas classics. Renowned conductor Timothy Henty leads the way, whilst Classic FM weekend presenter Alan Titchmarsh acts as your master of ceremonies for the evening.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

Hyde Park, South Kensington, W2 4RU

Daily until January 2nd, 2017 (closed Christmas Day)

This isn’t the first time we’ve mentioned the famous Winter Wonderland attraction at Hyde Park, but, given that it’s now only open for a few more week, can promise you it will be the last…At least until next year.

That said, can you really blame us for being this excited about an entire festive theme park based right on our doorstep? We didn’t think so, especially when you consider just how much is going on among the beautiful surroundings of historic Hyde Park.

Fairground rides, Christmas markets, shows and entertainment for kids and grown-ups, and that’s just for starters.
