Five Spookiest Attractions in Kensington and Chelsea this Halloween

The scariest night of the year is almost upon us, and here at the Amsterdam Hotel near Kensington and Chelsea, we’ve already begun to don those Dracula outfits and break out some gruesome goodies ready for a bit of good old fashioned trick or treating.

Care to join us in the celebrations this year? Here’s our guide to the best Halloween-themed events and attractions taking place close to our hotel this October.

Eerie Evening Tour – Halloween Special

Kensington Palace, Kensington Gardens, London W8 4PX (October 31st)

Where else would you start a list of Halloween events in Kensington and Chelsea than at Kensington Palace itself.

A late night tour that’s definitely not for the faint of heart, ghastly guides will take you on a terrifying tour around the state apartments, exploring the Victorian era’s strange fascination with the after life.

From Queen Victoria’s grief over the loss of her husband, Prince Albert, to rumours of ghostly goings on throughout the halls of this stately palace, if you only check out one event when staying at our hotel near Kensington this Halloween, make it this Eerie Evening Tour.

Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror

Royal Albert Hall, SW7 2AP (October 31st)

For one night only, the Royal Albert Hall comes alive with the shrieks and screams of one of the most influential horror movies ever made.

Nosferatu – based on the Bram Stoker classic, Dracula – gets a full showing as part of the venue’s first ever Festival of Film, along with a live piano accompaniment courtesy of Neil Brand.

Not scary enough for you? You can also book to take an exclusive Halloween tour of the Royal Albert Hall itself. Commencing after the film screening, the tour takes you behind the scenes of this iconic venue, listening to stories of ghost sightings, supposed hauntings, and some seriously creepy séances held within the hallowed hall.

Halloween Activity Day for Children

Hyde Park, W2 2UH (October 26th, 27th, 11am – 3pm)

If you’re staying at the Amsterdam Hotel near Kensington as part of a family break or half-term holiday, then Hyde Park is the place to be this Halloween.

For two days, the team behind the park’s Education Centre throw open their doors for a range of themed activities, including arts and crafts, magic potion mixing, and even the chance to learn some little-known facts about bats on a spooky nature trail.

No booking is required for this one, simply bring your young ones along to the Hyde Park Educational Centre any time during the day.

Wicked – The Musical

The Apollo Victoria Theatre, SW1V 1LG (Nightly performances)

Less than a fifteen minute tube ride from our hotel near Earls Court Station, the Apollo Theatre has hosted this spellbinding musical for well over a decade.

The critically acclaimed and multi-award winning Wicked tells the untold story of the Wicked Witch we first met in the classic Wizard of Oz.

A must-see at any time of year, the show serves up the perfect way to round out any Halloween weekend in Kensington and Chelsea.
